Sarah147
Hello, I thought it would be interesting to mention the people that had to give up a LOT to follow Christ in a religious vocation or the Priesthood. Here are some I came across: Chase Hilgenbrinck, soccer player, leaves to enter Seminary. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Sp-BXeYuYI&feature=related Dolores Hart, famous actress, leaves to enter cloister. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BKGmDifYq60&feature=related Know of any others? God bless you. Sarah147
I guess we could say Rosalind Moss. She was a successful author that left career world to become a religious sister and start her own order. I guess singer Madonna could have become a nun: “I wanted to be a nun. I saw nuns as superstars.... When I was growing up I went to a Catholic school, and the nuns, to me, were these superhuman, beautiful, fantastic people.” Edited August 1, 2010 by JoyfulLife
OnlySunshine
Sr. Catherine Holum (formerly Kristen Holum) of the Franciscan Sisters of the Renewal was an Olympic speedskater before she gave it all up to become a Sister. She's now living in the first international mission of the CFR Sisters in England! http://blog.beliefnet.com/deaconsbench/2010/02/sister-catherine-olympic-speedskater.html

Sarah147
What about Saints, too. Can you think of famous people that entered religious life and became Saints? Such as Princes, Kings, famous actors, famous writers, etc. Former tennis star Andrea Jaeger became a nun (unfortunetly not a Catholic order, but it's Christian) http://www.dailymail...rea-Jaeger.html Former actress Chen Xiaoxu became a Buddhist nun. More about Dolores Hart http://www.americaneedsfatima.org/Articles/hollywood-star-joins-the-convent.html Famous actor Peter Boyle, was a former monk in the Christian Brothers order. He played Raymond's Dad in Everybody Loves Raymond. Maybe he will return? Edited August 1, 2010 by JoyfulLife

Sarah147
Wow. I had no idea. I found this on him: Peter Boyle, explaining why he decided to abandon his early career choice as a Christian Brothers monk "I felt the call for awhile; then I felt the normal pull of the world and the flesh."
