lookingforfaith
I have seen their website and they seem like such an amazing order! Has anyone here ever met them in person?
Sarah147
I totally agree. Beautiful, simple order with my favorite apostolate. It's rather seeing this order and how they do their work in such a simple, free, beautiful way that I'm learning what apostolate I'm drawn to. Strange, this seems like it was posted before. Here is some information: http://www.phatmass....in&fromsearch=1 http://www.phatmass....ndpost&p=935188 http://www.phatmass....dpost&p=2145313 http://www.phatmass....dpost&p=1945993 http://www.phatmass....dpost&p=1696299 JesusITrustInYou Posted 07 June 2006 - 06:44 PM says: Capuchin Sisters of Nazareth!!!! OnlySunshine
Some little history tidbit-- The founder of the order was previously a Franciscan Sister of the Renewal. Their habit retains the same style as the CFR Sisters, but in a different color (brown, not grey; also the collar is a little different). Also, much of their impoverished surroundings in their pictures look much like the CFR convents that I visited in January. If you read A Drama of Reform, it has history of the CFR order and talks about how a few members left to form their own religious orders. The Capuchin Sisters of Nazareth are one such order. Although, clearly the Maryknoll veil is quite a bit more pointy-er... and have some kind of "Hollywood Bump It" thing going on:

It looks like the Sisters have some big tumor on the top of their head that they are trying to cover up.

I'm always curious to know the history behind various habits and veils... tradition vs. "fashion" vs. materials at hand vs. ?
krissylou
No wonder they ditched their habits. Is it wrong that I think of the Saturday Night Live Coneheads? Probably. I shall go do penance. Sarah147
The Carmelite Sisters for the Aged and Infirm have the same pointy veil! I think it is too silly and distracting, and lacking beauty.
Shana
That Capuchin Sister in the picture is Sr. Pia! Love her!
