I'm Going Out On This Note

Recommended Posts

i'm gonna take a break for awhile, like i tend to do. time to get off the computer and re-focus on what's important in my life right now.

i'm gonna go out on this point, which i've brought up before.

read study read study read study church fathers scott hahn apologetics history study research debate etc etc etc etc.

this seems to be how converts have discovered the "true church."

catholic apologetics are amazing. there's an answer for every single question out there. they are intelligent and well-informed answer. they sound right.

no wonder why there are so many converts to catholicism. people are looking for intelligent answers, and catholicism provides them.

catholicism certainly seems to satisfy the intellect. for those of have searched and researched and studied looking for truth, no wonder why this is where they end up.

however, i'm not trying to satisfy my intellect. i believe this can be a stumbling block. it looks like people have gotten so caught up in the smart answer that the simplicity of the gospel takes a back seat, if not completely abandoned.

to be honest, i don't care what 12th century christians did. if i was in a poor country, hopefully with a bible at my disposal, none of that other stuff would matter to me. scott hahn wouldn't be able to do a thing for me. only Jesus.

if i just stumbled upon this website, and didn't read and know my bible, i probably would be convinced to become (or remain) a catholic. however, it still doesn't line up with the Word to me.

i'll stick around for a little while longer, maybe to fine-tune this point. but there's nothing to argue, this has been my opinion for a long time now. i just like to let people know where i stand.

peace and love.

Ok...

Just one question...

How is that the way that Jesus built that would never be overcome and be like a city on a mountain for all to see?

God Bless,

Just a question ... WHY do you think Catholicism doesn't line up with scripture despite the stuff that has been discussed here on this board?

Mulls can I ask you, please when you walk by a Catholic Church and you see that they have Eucharistic Adoration, please go inside and pray.

I promise you will come out changed. Alot of people say I wish I could have lived in Christ's time, no, you don't have to He is right here waiting for you mulls.

Will you try this mulls?

God Bless

dave i would probably have to write a term paper to give you a decent response to that.

like i've said before, a lot of misconceptions have been cleared up for me. and i mean a lot

but even what the church really teaches just doesn't work for me.

i said i wasn't going to argue about this, and i'm not. i'm not going to answer ironmonk's question either.

if you want me to respond anymore, we'll have to stick to the original topic.

God Conquers

If Catholicism only satisfied the intellect, only theologians would be Catholic.

The Catholic CHurch claims more members than any other CHristian church because it satisfies the SOUL.

Don't know how to read? Good luck being a protestant.

We'll give you the Word everyday, in your ears and in His flesh.

Catholicism and it's Sacraments, especially the Eucharist, allow more spiritual satisfaction than any other faith that exists.

Where else does God seek to dwell in an intimate physical way with His chosen people?

We don't just read, we experience.

We ask that you get to know BOTH natures of our Savior. Human and Divine, by becoming intimate with the people who knew Him best, His mother and the Saints.

What bugs many people is that we have it all. You're right Mulls, the Church DOES have all the answers. Maybe it's not because it's "intellectually elitist" though. Maybe it has all the answers because it is TRUE.

If you want satisfaction.... TRUE satisfaction, come on down.

Worship the Catholic Way. It has satisfied for 2000 years, the most Learned of Scholars, the Mightiest of Kings, the most humble poor, have all come to know Christ through the Church that He built.

Catholicism is SO much more than intelect. The summit of our faith is the Eucharist, one of the greatest mysteries. It defies the intelect. It is awesome!

heres a thought, one does not have to understand all the galaxies and universe to know the stars that shine at nite are beautiful.

st. therese kept it simple by loving completely for God, her faith was child-like, pure and simple. so, the faith doesnt' just grab those who want a right answer, rather they find what they are looking for..completeness. shes one of the many doctors of the Church....for her way of love that she so wonderfully captured.

remember, we may think we have enough, but do we really know what we need? when we really dont know ourselvse what we lack?

God bless you mulls.

your awesome. be willing to be conformed by God in your studying, and He will!

your in my prayers, you have always been one cool christian brother in Christ.

A lot of the greatest saints were uneducated. St. Bernadette comes to mind. And St. John Vianney wasn't exactly an intellectual himself. But one thing they had in common was that they decided to follow Christ UNRESERVEDLY -- holding nothing back whatsoever.

Mulls, God brought you here to Phatmass for a reason. Did you ever consider that maybe He might want you to return to the Church? Remember, we either follow God in EVERY aspect of our lives, or we follow Him in none. We may not understand where He leads us, but we're called to trust. So be open to where God is leading you.

^_^ also i have to say props to you mulls, you have a good head on your shoulders and a big heart.

know that no matter who or where we are in life, we are always learning soemthing new, and growing, theres always so much to learn, its neverending! :D

never be too content or too settled, (not at all saying that you are just saying..) but know that God instilled in us to always have a hunger to learn and know more than what we can possibly imagine for ourselves.

our hearts are restless O Lord, until they rest in you!

your sister in christ, :hearts:, always!

Mulls,

I will miss you greatly. You stand as a fine example of the good things in Protestantism. You are faithful to your convictions, and have great integrity.

May God bless you in all that you do...

peace...
