stlmom
Adding a few more to the list: Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon You can also link to a blog by their novice, Sister Alison. It's located in the vocations section of the website. Sisters of St. Francis of the Holy Eucharist Not to be confused with the Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist in Connecticut, these sisters are a very small community near Kansas City, Missouri. Marian Sisters of the Diocese of Lincoln Starr County Benedictine Sisters A small Benedictine community in Texas that does a lot of pro-life work. OnlySunshine
I thought it might be a good idea to resurrect this old thread. I am interested in the Sisters of Christian Charity after finding out that they were diverse but still traditional. I thought that was an interesting combination. Plus, I also have some more links to add: Franciscan Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart Sisters of St. Paul de Chartres There was another one I wanted to add but I forgot the name of it. If I remember it, I'll post the link.

OnlySunshine
Also any suggestions for male communities? There is the male counterpart of the Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist. They are the Franciscan Brothers of the Eucharist. Each Brother is assigned to work in a professional field suited to his personal talents and education. In this way, the mission of the Brothers is carried out to the people with whom the brothers work. As the community grows, we envision Brothers collaborating with the Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist in each of their centers and apostolates in the U.S and abroad. We see work - whether manual, intellectual or professional - as an opportunity to share as co-creators in building the Church. As we expend energy by giving ourselves to hard work, we in turn become energized through the transforming power of communal effort and interaction with the elements of creation. I'm looking out for other communities so I'll let you know if I find any others. ;)
MargaretTeresa
I think I'd agree with the Daughters of St. Paul. One of the communities I'm looking into. I agree with this too. I loooooove the FSPs. :D Just ask KrissyLou how much I love them. ("Krissy, can I go be a nunny yet?")
OnlySunshine
Felician Franciscan Sisters of North America -I think this order is very much like the SCC in that they are committed to social justice while at the same time remaining a Eucharistic and Marian community. They've gotten quite a few vocations recently. Their order's history begins in Poland. :)

OnlySunshine
What about the Apostles of the Sacred Heart of Jesus? I've heard that they allow internet time and they have a modified habit and veil, but they are still members of the CMSWR. The Carmelite Sisters of the Aged and Infirm have Sisters on Facebook (plus, I've seen one sister post here occasionally). The Benedictine Sisters of Perpetual Adoration are pretty lenient in the way of what to bring to the convent when you enter. Even though they are a semi-contemplative community, the Sisters are allowed to go home 2 weeks out of the year to visit family. See here:http://www.benedictinesisters.org/vocation/questions.php I don't think the Carmelite Sisters really qualify as "middle of the road." The other two, I believe, do. OnlySunshine
Servants of the Pierced Hearts of Jesus and Mary -This order reminds me quite a bit of the Daughters of St. Paul as their apostolate is heavy into internet and radio. Sisters of Nazareth We are from different parts of the world and have brought with us into the Congregation various gifts and talents together with our own personalities. We love, value, respect and encourage one another to be the best that we can be in loving God and serving those we minister to.
AccountDeleted
I would say that my community is middle of the road for Carmelites, but I'm not ready to disclose which one it is yet. Maybe after Clothing? :p Patience is a virtue.
salveregina10
We are middle of the road as well - international, following the Rule of St. Benedict, doing missionary work globally to make Christ known by everyone.
