If showers are gender segregated, isn't that kinda way overboard? :idontknow: Unless that was the individual's preference, obviously.
no, it isn't overboard. what about those girls or guys that struggle with SSA?

Wearing swimwear in the showers is fine if they want to, but these showers are coin operated and only allow for one person at a time. I have altered my wording on creating the near occasion to sin. I also added the phrase "common sense". Changed tank tops to spaghetti straps. I don't know all the female clothing lingo, I depend on you all. We require swimwear in the showers when they are public or individual but part of a larger bathhouse.

why are shirts in the water a safety hazard? I wear one every time I get in the water.
I think mostly because a person could get caught in their shirt and risk drowning, or the shirt can fill with air, or get stuck on something, or weigh someone down more than they're used to. I know some pools that actually prohibit people from wearing T-shirts in the pool, for those reasons.

Hm. I suppose so. I've never known anyone for whom that was an issue, to be honest with you.

Shirts in the water can be a safety hazard. I think requiring boys to wear shirts in the water is a bit excessive. Modest one-pieces for the girls, modest trunks for the guys (no excessively short or tight trunks, or banana-hammocks), shorts must stay pulled up.
I've gone swimming with a shirt before. As long as it's not too big or too heavy, it should be OK.

I think it's nice to hope that girls have modest one-pieces, but the reality of the situation is that many do not, and may not have the money to buy another suit. I think a t-shirt is an acceptable compromise.

My dd (14yrs.) was told to pack a one-piece for camp.

Didn't she go to an all-girls camp?

Oh rly? Just curious because I've always worn a shirt (unless there are no ladies around) and I don't know what might happen that would be against safety. I've had issues with trunks (mostly in the area of accidentally mooning people after a dive) but that's about it.

It is maybe a problem with over-sized shirts?
They createdrag in the water, and weight you down (if they're cotton tees). They can also get caught on logs and things. Probably aren't a huge issue in a swimming pool, though. I used to do a lot of canoeing where you're dealing with rapids and fast currents, so that's probably influencing my thinking.
I guess I really don't see guys swimming shirtless as a huge modesty issue. I went to a Catholic school with fairly strict modesty standards, but males were not required to wear shirts in the water. Just so long as they aren't needlessly parading around shirtless out of the water after they've dried off.

I remember there was a lengthy debate on this topic a few years ago, and I realize others have differing opinions on the matter.

Clothing

A Note on Modesty – We dress modestly so as to protect our brothers and sisters and not place our own dignity in danger. Clothing must reflect a Christian atmosphere at all times. Shorts should be no more than 3 inches above the knee, no spaghetti straps. I am not a “legalist” when it comes to clothing, basically, use common sense.

For Swimming: No bikinis/2-pieces. If you only own a bikini plan on wearing a t-shirt over it. Men should plan on wearing t-shirts while swimming. This is a common youth ministry practice.

Pack the clothing you need for the trip. Remember to bring warm clothes for overnight, and pack rain gear just in case. We will not cancel for rain.

well, supposedly porn and masturbation isn't an issue for girls either....just saying that just because you don't know about it doesn't mean it isn't an issue :)

I tend to be a little laissez-faire when it comes to modesty, so I don't have much to contribute except as it regards lightsabers.

She did. However, they walked to the local (public) waterpark for an afternoon there. The sisters are strict on what they can and can't wear at camp.

And I agree with you that it would be too much to ask people to buy another swimsuit for an event that just sorta came up. (We know the camp rules well in advance and buy accordingly-- my dd would want a one-piece anyway, though). If she had a nice tankini and I were asked to buy her another suit for one day, I'd be upset.

Actually they both are issues for girls as well, just not in the same way or to the same extent as they are for boys. This is something I have researched for the text I am working on.

I guess I can see the restriction on drugs and explosives, but no light sabers or time machines? That's going too far imho. People gotta live brah.

Werd. A lot of your time lords will be parking their tardises. Also, Maybe the prohibition on swords doesn't help chivalry, imho.

For Swimming: No bikinis/2-pieces.
Hate to be super picky, but I thought I'd add my two cents again!

Like I said, I CERTAINLY agree about no bikinis! But I think someone else mentioned that tankinis, while technically 2-piece, can actually be quite modest. They're more common than one-pieces anymore, mostly because they are more readily available on the market, and basically cover the same amount that a one-piece does.
