no tank tops.
Most people equate sleeveless shirts with the term "tank tops", so people who don't know the difference could potentially have a big problem with this, as there are some "tank tops" that can be considered modest. You may want to say something like, "Sleeveless shirts are permitted, but no tank tops or spaghetti straps". Just a suggestion! I know lots of young women (and even their PARENTS!) can get up in arms about all the semantics and implications when it comes to modesty!

I would definitely say no spaghetti straps, though!

How does this sound?

Clothing

A Note on Modesty – When we do not dress modesty we can cause our brothers and sisters to sin and we place our own dignity in danger. Clothing must reflect a Christian atmosphere at all times. Shorts should be no more than 3 inches above the knee, no tank tops.

For Swimming: No bikinis/2-pieces. If you only own a bikini plan on wearing a t-shirt over it. Men should plan on wearing t-shirts while swimming. This is a common youth ministry practice.

Pack the clothing you need for the trip. Remember to bring warm clothes for overnight, and pack rain gear just in case. We will not cancel for rain.

Also

Towels for the showers
Toiletries
Personal Bible
MP3 players (optional, but not recommended)
Snacks (optional)
Cell phone (optional)
Sleeping Bag
Water Bottle

No expensive electronics or jewelry, no explosives, no light sabers, no time machines, no alcohol or drugs. If you have prescription medications please inform the chaperones before we leave. No medieval armor or swords. No videogame systems or portable tv systems.
Not bad, except I'm not sure I like the phrasing "cause to sin."

I think that perpetuates the idea that we aren't responsible (or not as responsible) for the choices we make when we're tempted by someone else.

Shirts in the water can be a safety hazard. I think requiring boys to wear shirts in the water is a bit excessive. Modest one-pieces for the girls, modest trunks for the guys (no excessively short or tight trunks, or banana-hammocks), shorts must stay pulled up.

Nihil Obstat

I think that wetsuits should be normative swimwear in all conditions for both genders.

They're just kinda awesome that way.

I have heard this, and that's why I think many people are reluctant to require it. My dermatologist does recommend it, though - so it can't be that bad, right?

Flabby torsos can be exposed, though . . .

This might be a bit much for the girls nowadays -

But with a few alterations, they wouldn't be that bad! ;)

I think also that bringing lightsabers should be mandatory rather than prohibited. You never know when the situation may call for an impromptu lightsaber duel. I know it happens to me all the time.

Oh rly? Just curious because I've always worn a shirt (unless there are no ladies around) and I don't know what might happen that would be against safety. I've had issues with trunks (mostly in the area of accidentally mooning people after a dive) but that's about it.

It is maybe a problem with over-sized shirts?

not just towels for showers - but perhaps bathing suits for showers as well.

My wife has one similar to the suits on the left side of this page: http://modestswimmingsuits.com/

I like that it has a skirt thing so that it isn't just like wearing panties in public. It is still a bit . . . inspiring, however. Although maybe that's just because it is my wife I'm talking about. ;)

If showers are gender segregated, isn't that kinda way overboard? :idontknow: Unless that was the individual's preference, obviously.
