crusader1234
Hey, I was just wondering, what are the Catholic teachings on drinking for minors? Is it a sin? I'll check the Catchecism but just wondering if any priest or scholar could give me some advice. At parties alcohol is around and I was wondering if drinking was a sin, same with at family dinners and stuff. Do you need to get drunk for it to be a sin or is just drinking a sin in and of itself? BLAZEr
As a minor you shouldn't drink, and it is a sin because 1. You break the law. 2. You disobey your parents. 3. You sneak and lie to do it. Now, if you're at your home with your parents and they give you permission to have a beer, no problem. This is not illegal. They are responsible for you and teaching you drink responsibly is not a sin. The sin isn't the drinking, it's the danger you place your soul in by lying, sneaking, breaking the law, and putting yourself in an occasion of sin by drinking and risking the irresponsible decisions you will make by not having complete control of your will. You also are in danger of drinking too much.
