I didn't know what to watch for.

Those are what we call "listening" points :P During the offertory, the priest turns around and says the former... then you respond quietly ("Sucipiat..." or May the Lord accept this sacrifice at your hands... for the good of all his Holy Church). The latter is when he begins the cannon of martyrs after the consecration...

Just goes to show you how people can come off a completely different way on the internet! :hehe:

Nah, before you came back recently, my husband and I had actually made several posts on PM about honoring what has been set aside as the ordinary by those who have the authority to determine liturgical norms. He was raised going to EF Masses and still prefers that form, but, to him, it's more important to attend our home parish and follow the normative, making the best of various annoyances and such. I came into the Church via OF (and honestly may not be Catholic today had Mass been in a foreign tongue at that point), and only recently have I been to a few EF Masses. So far, that form has very little appeal, but my husband thinks I need to go to at least twenty of them before I can make a fair judgment. :idontknow: I understand that EF Masses can be really beautiful and spiritually moving for a lot of people, but I'm just not there. If our home parish offered Mass in the EF, we would probably go every once in a while because my husband does like that form A LOT, but neither of us are comfortable attending an EF-only parish. That's just us. The rest of his family and a lot of his friends are pretty much EF all the way, and that's cool too - that's how they are living out their Catholicism - all glory to God. :) Anyway, I will say, though, if Latin Masses were to become the ordinary form again, then of course I'd smell of elderberries it up in a heartbeat and try to learn Latin quickly so that I could follow more faithfully what has been chosen as the normative. Kinda confusing, so I should stop now, but, no, i'm not an EF sorta girl. :paperbag:

Your hubby is probably right about needing to go to quite a few before making a judgement, because I know the 2 times I've been there, I was much more focused on following what everyone else was doing, because I didn't know what to do. So you probably need to go several times to "get the hang of it" before you can really say what you like better. I mean, I KNOW one of the reasons I like NO Masses is because it's what I grew up with and I am familiar with it. Although, you have the benefit of your hubby being able to help you figure out what is going on, so you'd probably pick it up a little faster than I would.

Yes, I did hit the nail on the head when I said it was a pity that a person would feel uncomfortable attending a TLM-only parish.

Oh, no, not there. There you were exerting your opinion, and doing it in a rude way.

I meant that you hit the nail on the head when you posted the proper emoticon.

You two are funny. Let's try and stay POSITIVE and ON TOPIC! :P hash it out in some other medium. Like drawings, or chatrooms, or music.

Perhaps.
The difference is that I do not act as though my opinions are facts.
[/quote]

And who is to say that you are correct in your determination of what is an opinion and what is a fact?
