I don't want to start a debate. But I would be saddened if someone would refrain from going to a TLM because of certain scruples, and am trying to point out that there is no reason to be afraid of that. It is a good thing to seek out a Mass which is offered in beauty and splendour, because it will certainly benefit the soul.

Margaret Mary, thank you for posting that article. It was an interesting read.

Yes, I thought the article would be a good read for Latin-Mass goers.

I find beauty and splendor in the simplest of masses, no matter what language.

not sure.. that is kinda what i struggle with. The reason to go to Mass is for Him, not me. Granted I end up getting something wonderful each time I go... I am unsure.. like i said.. i am conflicted.

All I would say, lest I unintentionally sound pushy, is that it definitely couldn't hurt to give it a shot someday. :)

If I manage to get myself to a Ukrainian Catholic Mass sometime in the future (there's one about a twenty minute drive from me), it's going to be for the beauty and simply the "otherness" of an Eastern liturgy. Not because I feel drawn to Ukrainian Catholic spirituality. Still a valid Liturgy full of grace and with Jesus present, right? ^_^

I actually didn't enjoy the low Mass. :P I'd only been to high Masses before, and I was starting to get used to orienting myself based on the specific actions or words that I could pick out....... but it felt like all my landmarks were gone with the low Mass. :P I was so lost.

Usually one Sunday a month, it's not celebrated more often than that. There are some private ones on some weekday, but I've never attended. I like this type of mass more than the NO ones.

absolutely. I don't think those who frequent the OF ever make the argument that the EF isn't valid (and if they did, they would enter into a whole new realm of stupidity and rudeness). And that certainly is NOT my argument at all. To say that one or the other is valid or more valid than the other, to me, is repugnant; and a slap in Holy Mother Church's face. At least IMO, FWIW.
No, and also no real desire. I'm not vehemently opposed to it, I just prefer being able to understand the liturgy.
No, I attend the ordinary form of the Mass.

I find this surprising. Not in a bad way, just I really thought you were an EF sort of girl ...

Just goes to show you how people can come off a completely different way on the internet! :hehe:

Nah, before you came back recently, my husband and I had actually made several posts on PM about honoring what has been set aside as the ordinary by those who have the authority to determine liturgical norms. He was raised going to EF Masses and still prefers that form, but, to him, it's more important to attend our home parish and follow the normative, making the best of various annoyances and such. I came into the Church via OF (and honestly may not be Catholic today had Mass been in a foreign tongue at that point), and only recently have I been to a few EF Masses. So far, that form has very little appeal, but my husband thinks I need to go to at least twenty of them before I can make a fair judgment. :idontknow: I understand that EF Masses can be really beautiful and spiritually moving for a lot of people, but I'm just not there. If our home parish offered Mass in the EF, we would probably go every once in a while because my husband does like that form A LOT, but neither of us are comfortable attending an EF-only parish. That's just us. The rest of his family and a lot of his friends are pretty much EF all the way, and that's cool too - that's how they are living out their Catholicism - all glory to God. :) Anyway, I will say, though, if Latin Masses were to become the ordinary form again, then of course I'd try to learn Latin quickly so that I could follow more faithfully what has been chosen as the normative. Kinda confusing, so I should stop now, but, no, i'm not an EF sorta girl. :paperbag:

edit: oh, philters... doesn't make sense when a sentence says i'd smell of elderberries it up in a heartbeat and learn Latin.
