I might be posting a poll that has already been taken, but I am just curious to see how many of us attend the TLM. I go every Sunday at my parish.

I go about 4 times a week. Yeah, to a Frat community, not an ICK one. I love saying that...ick

Nope. These days I am doing well to get to any Mass at all, much less go out of my way to a community I'm not part of to celebrate a Mass I'm not familiar with. I appreciate the aesthetic of the extraordinary form, I really do. But I find the totality of my spiritual needs are met through the ordinary form of the Latin Rite, so I have no pressing call to seek out something more.

I normally go to the TLM every saturday and sunday. During the week I go to Mass in the OF, but if I could, I would always go to Mass in the Usus Antiquior. I thank God for this grace.

I voted "Sometimes," but by that I suppose it's really more like "Rarely."

I go when there's opportunity. Maybe once every few months?

There's no place to go around my area to go consistently. But, even if there were, I probably wouldn't go consistently. I do enjoy the Extraordinary form, for various reasons, but I don't think that I will be attending regularly any time soon.

No, and also no real desire. I'm not vehemently opposed to it, I just prefer being able to understand the liturgy.

I prefer the Byzantine liturgy, but Mass celebrated according to the older Roman Missal is a close runner up.

Believe it or not, i go to the OF. Though I cannot say I have no desire to go to an EF; i just fear i would be going as an antiquarian...and that just seems wrong.

The Traditional Latin Mass is alive and active today. ;)

oh no, that's not what i meant.....

what i meant is that it does indeed (from what pictures i have seen, and what other, approachable pm'ers had said in discussions) look absolutely gorgeous. and what wonderful 'history/tradition' is wrapped up in it.

But, and maybe this is scruples talking, would i be going to the EF Mass for the 'antiquity/beauty' of it? or would i really be going for God? Or, is it even a dichotomy that I see it to be? not sure.

It is filled with spiritual riches and the reality of what is happening at the Mass is conveyed in every act the Priest makes. There are also many ancient prayers which have been removed in the forma ordinaria, but which call many graces down from Heaven. Also, the external reverance which accompanies the TLM has an impact on the soul's contemplation of the Mystery that is taking place. I would encourage you to at least visit a TLM once, so that you can have the experience of what for centuries has been the most holy treasure of the Roman Church. Such a thing cannot at once be treated as something harmful for the soul. :)

It is also a powerful weapon against liturgical abuse and great for understanding the Spirit of the Liturgy.

Would going for the antiquity or beauty be a bad reason though? IMO, it's a perfectly legitimate reason to want to attend that form of the Mass. Obviously it's not the only reason, and it means more or less to some people, but I think it's a valid reason nonetheless.

I mean if one were to exclusively attend EF Masses because "they're prettier", maybe that would be a bit shallow, but a) they're still going to a Catholic Mass, and b) they're receiving the graces from Mass whether it's in the EF or the NO.

Moral of my story: Catholics are the coolest. ^_^
