No seriously Ive been washing a lot of dishes lately so I admire a man who kept scrubbing even when they came to make him a cardinal. Not to mention his being friends with Aquinas. I wish I could have listened in on those conversations!

O Star of the Sea, Help and protect us. Show us that you are our Mother. Amen. Happy Feast Day to the Carmelites!!! I read somewhere that July 16 is St Clare's birthday, also. AccountDeleted
And a very happy feast day of Our Lady of Mt Carmel to all of you too! Tomorrow marks the halfway point of my live-in visit here but today was not only OLMC but also the celebration of 75 years since the founding of this Carmel so I wanted to have these photos posted on phatmass VS for your enjoyment. I helped one of the sisters put up a corridor full of photos covering the past 75 years of this Carmel, and she gave me a CD disk of them all as well, which I will be taking home with me to show the family. I miss you all and when I get home, I will have to spend some time online just trying to catch up with everything. The Mass today was celebrated by the Archbishop and I think I counted eight other priests up there with him! The music was just beautiful and the nuns' voices so angelic. Afterwards, so many people just wanted to say thank you to the nuns for praying for them for all these years, so they came up onto the sanctuary to say hello at the choir grille. It was just so sweet to hear them asking for prayers and saying thank you and I could see that they were thrilled to be able to actually come up and see the nuns since usually they can barely see anything of them from the chapel. Then the Archbishop came inside for a quick hello (only a few weeks ago he came for a longer visit and a chat, so this was just time enough to say a few brief words). We spent the whole day as a holiday and had 'parties' at meal times (we gathered around a big table in the kitchen to eat and chat and laugh). What a wonderful day in celebration of Our Lady's feast and the anniversary of the monastery. First, a photo of the founders themselves... I am not sure when this was taken but definitely not from the foundation year. This is one of the outside of the monastery sometime between 1935-1945... And I like this photo showing the extern's strange headwear - the extern toque and veil changed a lot over the years. And then finally, an old one of the choir. One of these sisters is still with us today! She wasn't at the foundation, but she came two years later in 1937. She is a funny and sweet lady and still attends all of the Office hours at age 90! When I get back to Melbourne in six weeks, I will post some more because I know one can never have too many nun photos! I am praying for all of you, especially those discerning religious vocations, and I ask for your continued prayers for me. God has been so good to me in allowing me this wonderful opportunity. If it is His will, I would love to come back here as a postulant, so pray, pray, pray, please. I celebrated by going to our parish's Liturgy of the Hours, then Holy Mass (although they didn't read the readings for the day - I still read them on my own!) and then got a Soy Carmel Late to celebrate Since we're posting pictures of Carmel ... Chiquitunga
Happy Feastday to everyone too! (well optional memorial on the ordinary calendar .. but SOLEMNITY for us "Carmelites" ) On another note, I just came home from a little trip and upon walking into my room I was astonished to find a 2 foot statue of St. Therese on my desk! Wow! It was from a neighbor was who giving away a bunch of her possessions She's in her 80's and is a Third Order Carmelite and I've known her for years. So thanks be to God! What a beautiful gift! And now my room is becoming even more like a little Carmel!
