socalscout
I had a Gibson Sonex back in the day and it was a composite guitar made by Gibson. It played ok even though I didn't and still don't. We have a Yamaha acoustic that plays pretty nice. I have the bug again. I used to live by the Kramer factory/showroom and those guitars were cool. Don't have a fortune to spend on another hobby so I might go used but this time I might go Fender. Strats are great but old school Telecaster body might be my preference. Again though I love the SG but good luck getting a Gibson for a good price.
Nihil Obstat
What about a nice Gretsch? This one probably pushes three grand, but on the other hand, this one: (my guitar, same colour as the first, but in poor lighting), has identical functions and is eminently playable. Still has that "Great Gretsch Sound" and all the twang too, for closer to eight hundred or nine hundred brand new. If you like Fender over Gibson, you'll also tend to like Gretsch over Gibson, and if you admire the Telecaster, that usually will also push you towards Gretsch. One of my little pipe dream goals is to have a guitar collection heavily biassed towards Gretsch, especially the hollowbodies.
Jaime
It depends on what I'm playing. I had an early Jackson that was amazing, but I don't do a lot of electric work. If I were to get a new electric, I'd probably get a tele. But again that's more for the music I'd be playing. If we were listing acoustics then that's simple Olson, Laudin and Taylor. Although I was in my local shop the other day and I played a Martin DCPA1 and I became horribly irrational. I was wishing that I had children, so that I could possibly sell one to purchase this guitar. It may be the best combination of acoustic ability and electronics for professional playing that I've ever seen.

I like the SG a lot with that Angus Young vibe but I am leaning towards the Telecaster as long as it has a rosewood neck. I'm thinking about taking guitar up again. What did you think I was talking about Mel Gibson? Gotcha to look. Hey PM long time no talk.
good to see you
