I particularly enjoyed hearing from Sr. Beatrice in that respect. Nice perspective!
I agree! That's what actually got me started thinking: Well, what if God IS calling me to teach and I'm blowing Him off because I want to be a nurse? I am very drawn to their common life as shown in the video, especially the fact that they are so active in sports. Lately, I've been exercising a lot for my health and it makes me feel so good, physically and emotionally. I'm sure it's a great stress reliever to be able to play a friendly game with all your Sisters. Wow, the more I talk about them, the more I want to go visit and SOON! So much so, that I plan to put other retreats on hold and give Nashville first priority!

Agree about the chapel, too!
I meant the short white capes that are part of their habit. I know your future community doesn't wear the short capes, but I guess I was assuming that they do have long black capes for chapel. Isn't that pretty standard among Dominicans? Or is that only Dominican nuns, not Sisters?

(Woohooooo! ) We also have the long black capes, but they're not quite as long as the Nashvilles' habit-length capes. (Ooh... I guess those are called "mantles"... I forgot about that. Thank you, video, for the reminder! ) Our capes are slightly shorter than the habit -- like the Hawthorne Dominicans' mantles. (That's where my community got their pattern for the black mantle (or "cappa" as one of the Sisters calls it). Superficially speaking ( ), I prefer the length of Nashville's mantles and habits. Their mantles and habits seem to be right at ankle-length. Mine will be slightly above the ankle. (We're talking "cankle" area. ) Anyhooo... now I'm just being nitpicky. I'm just thrilled I'll finally get a cape (the little white one) as part of the habit and the black mantle!
SrBenigna
I thought the black Dominican capes were called "cappas" or is that the short cape?! she_who_is_not
MM, The Jesu Caritas retreats are usually scheduled to coincide with collegiate fall and spring breaks. Vocation retreats are usually sometime after the first of the year but before the beginning of spring semester and then in mid-May after exams. If you email Sr. Mary Emily she will tell you the dates (if they are set). I should be at the fall Jesu Caritas. Hope to see you in Nashville! I plan to contact her by email later today. I sent a vocation form through their website, but I don't know if it went through because I didn't hear anything the first time I did it a few months ago. (Not that it's my business or you have any reason to tell me except that it will make it easier to pray for you.) I do have a strong suspicion that it will be somewhere with a Tridentine rite. Not sure where I got that idea......
JMJ Vague suggestions as far as I recall. holly.o
I Dominicans (although I don't think I'm called to this community). Their prayer life seems wonderful. Their prayer life seems wonderful. There was so much joy in the face of every sister! I want to go be a student in their classrooms.
I agree. I'm in pure love! Last night and today, I couldn't stop thinking about them and how much I want to visit them. I'm still seeking out ways to go and visit. I emailed Sr. Mary Emily earlier this evening asking when the next retreat will be, and I explained that it doesn't matter if it's a vocation retreat or a Jesu Caritas retreat, but I am discerning a religious vocation. I pray that it will not take too long to hear back from her. P.S.--Last night, after watching them on EWTN, I searched for videos on YouTube and found this beautiful video of a Sister singing Ave Maria. She has the voice of an angel!
