Gregorius
Wow, I actually found a situation where this applies: I love Percy Grainger!
Marie-Therese
Happy Birthday Rexi! I wish I could tell you that with another year you might get more respect, but I haven't yet hit the age where anyone shows me any respect, so I wouldn't get your hopes up. At least you're a year closer to finishing high school. But, that means you will be immersed (if you aren't already) in the heck that is the college application process. There is no silver lining without a cloud. To celebrate, I recommend downloading Frank Sinatra and driving everyone around you crazy singing, "When I was 17, it was a very good year....."
I concur with this song choice. One of my personal favorites.
Vincent Vega
Happy Birthday Rex. PS. I love Percy Grainger more. PPS. Unless Rex is a 'pretty, fair maid', I'm not sure it does actually apply. Edited July 11, 2010 by USAirwaysIHS
IgnatiusofLoyola
Deleted because my comment was stupid. (Maybe this could start a trend. On second thought, I know better.) Edited July 11, 2010 by IgnatiusofLoyola
Mark of the Cross
17 years old !! You young punk, I have wrinkles older than you! ! It certainly is a shame they waste youth on the young. Have a great Birthday, kiss your Mom, kiss your Dad too, if he is like my Dad you better duck right after the kiss though. ed
Hey cut it out, your jokes are funny unlike mine. I've got wrinkles on my wrinkles that are more than 17 years old. Do you mean all this advice I've been getting is from someone not as old as my car? Does Rexi have any good advice on how to be like 17 again...err... nah.. forget it, being young is too much trouble, there are too many failures ahead to learn to deal with. Being old is great, I have a good reason for being lame and silly. Every time I make a fool of myself, I just say. "That's the problem with getting old, I'm not as smart as I used to be." Anyway have a great day while I struggle through another 22,000 something day.

Little did I know.) Other than that, you couldn't pay me to be 17 again. But, if you have no control over being 17, then you might as well enjoy it! However, I like that song--good thing, because and now it will be going through my head all evening. homeschoolmom
My friend and I danced to Dancing Queen at her wedding. Man, was that fun. We also tried to get the DJ to play The Wreck of the Edmond Fitzgerald, but he didn't have it-- Imagine that! (ABBA and Gordon Lightfoot were staples at her house growing up)

Sadly, I got in trouble for "accidentally" damaging the album, and my dad made me buy her another copy.

Bittersweet--It was an awful time and a wonderful, idealistic time, when we were going to save the world, and anything was possible. Just now, I've been wallowing in nostalgia and playing videos from those years. One of my regrets (although not a terrible one) is that although I had the great fortune to grow up in the San Francisco Bay Area, I was too young, and missed some "once-in-lifetime" concerts. I did get to hear Neil Young when he was quite young, before his life and age messed up his voice. He had one of the purest voices I've ever heard, and, just now, watching videos, I had forgotten how many great songs he wrote. Thanks for reminding me of all that. I'll give Rexi his thread back now.
