Check out Chris Tomlin's "Our God" its my new jam. :smokey:

Another band to look at would be: The Glorious Unseen, that is one legit band.

mainly the protestant variety is where i'm getting at, your run of the mill christian song you will find on your radio. a lot of them are sappy stories about how they were down in the dumps, lost everything, etc they accepted Christ and everything was all happy. I am not saying I don't love Christ (I do!) but some of this music.... i can't really handle anymore

except for a few groups, i really do not like Christian music. we have a local Christian station, and everyone keeps telling me i should listen to it (i hate when people tell me i 'should' do anything), and i simply cannot stand sappy, trite, and really poorly written songs.

I really don't like most of what is played on Christian music stations, but I do listen to a lot of Christian music, mostly by independent artists (some Catholic). I'd rather listen to Christian music than regular, though, because I'd rather have songs about Our Lord stuck in my head all day than, I don't know, "millions of peaches" or something. :idontknow: I don't want to hear most of what is on Christian music stations, though - oh so very annoying.

you should write a letter to the radio station to communicate your feelings on the matter.

Vincent Vega

I can't stand that contemporary Christian rubbish that everyone listens to.

writing a letter would probably do nothing. nashville, tennesee makes millions of dollars a year on Christian music and it is within the financial and popular interests of local protestant radio stations to play stuff like that.

btw it's watered down for a reason. : (

Pretty much the only "Christian music" I listen to these days is Matt Maher. :woot:

Yup, same here.

To be honest, most Christian music (save for Matt Maher) lacks, well, musical excellence. It's just bad music in general, much less the lyrics (but I can't usually listen to it long enough to grasp the lyrics).

Sorry, I'm something of a music snob. Except when it comes to country music.

I can agree to a point... because i don't listen to the radio, christian or otherwise. probably three quarters of it is kind of boring.

Of course, I am hardly one to hate songs that are emotional, I am an emotional person, and I seem to do much better at life living with all of my emotions, but maybe thats just me. I just dont want all my songs to deal with one singular emotion.

Switchfoot is hardly run of the mill, and most of their songs confront topics that i can relate to that just about nobody else seems to write about.
Relient K is cool, but I don't buy any of their music in preference for a lot of other stuff like Pillar, Day of Fire, Disciple, Decyfer Down, and Thousand Foot Krutch, and I cannot see how they are run of the mill either. Seriously I can put on any of their songs, and my day ends up being more productive, efficient, and even holy.
