What I care about the most is the part where Eustace turns into a dragon and Aslan helps him. If they include that and don't turn it into something else, I'll be okay with it.

Yes, I agree, that scene is pivotal. So far, it's also under wraps; not even a sneak peak of the dragon or anything with Eustace, really.

We have a glimpse of him in the first trailer saying, "This place just keeps getting weirder and weirder," as well as the scene where they all fall into the painting. There is a still shot of him holding an oar in a longboat as well (from production) while still in his English clothes.

HERE is a youtube clip of an interview with Will Poulter talking about his earlier film. (He's the kid on the right, and he'll be playing Eustace.) Nothing he says is about Narnia, of course, but it should give you some indication of the type of face/voice he has (keep in mind he's older now).

Why would they leave that out?!? That's probably the key scene of the entire story!

Of course they won't leave it out. But it would be possible to 'reinterpret' that scene in some way that would leave fans outraged/severely disappointed. I highly doubt they would do something so foolish as that...but as I said, there has been no information available on that scene yet.

Basically, iconic scenes have to be filmed just about exactly as written - if they worked perfectly in the story, there's not much room for tweaking. I'm thinking of Eowyn battling the Witch-King -- scenes like that. For Dawn Treader, Eustace-and-the-dragon is the iconic scene. A couple of others are them entering the painting, and Reepicheep's little boat sailing to the edge of the world. Whether or not they are captured by slavers and/or escape in the same way is not nearly as iconic - that's a more malleable scene, where details can be altered, but the same gist of the story will come through. Ditto for their battle with the sea serpent. Sure, we expect it to be in there, but if they shift the timing around, it won't really matter.

So there's another trailer. For those who are wondering about this whole 'fate of Narnia' business, the 'added plot' is revealed a little more. It deviates enough from the book that I have to say...spoilers!

So, it's clear they did the 'falling into the painting' scene well. We also get a glimpse of the dragon and sea serpent in this. Still very little Eustace, but we at least see him deliver a line here. But...there's a little extra 'add-on' to the quest to find the 7 lost lords which none of us are likely to enjoy. My guess is that someone decided this movie should set up Silver Chair (at least someone is planning to make that, yeah?). Also, it occurs to me that 'rescuing' the seven lords isn't really what happens. They find them all, but...some are dead, some stay where they are, some are asleep and never wake up to meet the kids. So, it could be seen as a bit...unconvincing to audiences as to why this journey is taking place. Rather than, 'We're on a quest!' they've transformed it into 'We're on a quest to save the world!' Or maybe it's just a video game tie-in.

I'll wait til I see the movie to pass judgement, but I certainly didn't find this trailer encouraging.

Hard to believe they ruined the storyline before the preview was even finished.

Ok I agree with you, but that doesn't mean it'll be a bad movie....

I'm reading the book at present, and as long as the whole Eustace-to-and-from-dragon-form part is in there....and the Dufflepuds....and Eustace's diary, then I'm happy. And it does look very well-done, esp. the effects!

I really want this to be a good movie since I loved the book so much. It had better get at least 3 stars in the reviews, my mom does not like to see anything that gets less than 3 stars.......

Spoiler alert....

Do you think Aslan will make such an obvious reference to Christ in the movie as he does at the end of the book? I hope so!

Knowing filmmakers and their love for being creative with the original source material, I don't have high hopes. But it would please me to no end if they did. I wonder if those who did not read the books would know what he meant.

I know, I'm not holding my breath for it, but it's such a beautiful moment in the series. I think it would go over the heads of some, but if they kept it the same as in the book I believe most people would get it.

6:48 min. into this video you can see how the BBC handled that scene.

The children come upon a lamb, and Lucy asks it, 'Please, is this the way to Aslan's Country?'

The lamb replies, 'Not for you. For you, the door to Aslan's country is from your own world.'

Edmund, surprised, says, 'There is a way to Aslan, from our world too?'

*The lamb transforms to a lion*

Lucy asks the lion (whom they immediately recognize as Aslan), 'Will you tell us how to get to your country, from our world?'

'When the moment comes, you will know. But now I will open up the door in the sky and send you back to your own land.'

So, they stick to the book (more or less), but Aslan doesn't quite come out and say, 'Haven't you figured it out, yet? I'm Jesus!'

Well, it's out now. Has anyone seen it yet? I hope to on Friday.

Apparently, the bit about getting to Aslan's country from our world is in (in some form).
