I've been noticing that I've been eating more fruit lately than I normally do. It's like I'm craving it or something. I'm not known to be a big fruit eater, but I can't seem to get enough of it! Today, for instance, I ate:

A serving of papaya
A handful of rainer cherries
A navel orange

Now I want the other orange that I bought today. I realize this is not a bad habit at all, but it's strange. Do any of you have fruit cravings?

Yes, I LOVE fruit -- but especially during pregnancy! It's a great snack for when I REALLY want sugar (but really shouldn't have so much!)

One "summer" fruit I've always loved is watermelon -- but for some reason, it gives me REALLY bad acid reflux (sorry if that's TMI) ... but no one else seems to have that problem at all. Believe me, I WISH I could eat it!!! (And sometimes I sneak a little bit) ... but does anyone else have trouble with watermelon?

Honestly, I can't really say there's a fruit I don't like ... trying to think, and I can't come up with one!

Mmmmmm, watermelon!

I don't have problems digesting it, and I'm sorry that you do. :( That's rather odd, in a way, considering it's mostly water...

I know it!!! :( But without a doubt, whenever I eat it, I end up not feeling too well! I should google it, see what I find!

Haha, btw I was reading this thread while eating GRAPES! (nature's candy!!) Red seedless ones - nice and big and juicy!

watermelon + feta coagulated milk + basil = win
Haven't tried it with feta, but I do know that sweet basil and watermelon make a great combo!

I use fresh basil from a pot. I think the feta adds a great flavor and some acidity. The feta makes it even better. I use "neutral" feta. Like without any marinade/oil or spices/herbs diced.

In the summer I find that crave more watery fruits. Like grapes and melons. (But I suppose that makes sense as it's so much hotter and humid here in the summer.)

However, I think my favorite fruit is mango. Unfortunately, it's just too darn expensive to buy and doesn't go on sale nearly enough. :sadder:

Hmmm... I think I just might have to try Hilde's watermelon + feta cheese + fresh basil. This has me rather curious.

No other way to use basil! :D

That's the great thing about potted herbs - you can have fresh herbs no matter where you live! :)

But I'll definitely try the feta with it, at some point this summer. I LOVE, love, love feta coagulated milk. It's my favorite -- I can't get enough!

Fruit definitely has a summery quality to it. Probably has a lot to do with being able to make great dishes out of it in the hot hot months when it's not so great to have the oven on.

I think I'm more inclined to eat fruit in winter these days, though. It stems from being a mid-west transplant into California for a year-and-a-half. It was never winter weather there (but it still always felt seasonal), and that was also a time when I made lots of fruit dishes, bought an insane over-the-top juicer (then returned it...), and just ate fruit all the time. So now it's nostalgic for me to eat things like grapes, cherries and blueberries in the winter months.

By the way, the best glass of grape juice you'll ever have in your life... It requires that insanely over-the-top juicer, a complete bag of grapes, and about 25 minutes of prepping and cleaning time. It still might have been worth it just to taste it once...

One of those juicers that you can stick the whole fruit inside? Yeah, that would be nice!
