" A no-win situation is a possibility every commander may face - has that never occurred to you?" - Kirk to Saavik in "The Wrath of Khan" (a quote that popped into my mind when reading a post in the "lying to Nazis" thread)

"We are looking for nuclear wessels" - Chekov, in "Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home"

"Back in the 60s, he was part of the free speech movement at Berkely...I think he did a little too much LDS..." - Kirk to Jillian, also in "Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home"

"My father used to say that the road to hell is paved with good intentions. I laid the first stone right there. I'd committed myself. I'd pay any price, go to any lengths, because my cause was righteous. My... intentions were good. In the beginning, that seemed like enough."

...

"At oh-eight-hundred hours, station time... the Romulan Empire formally declared war against the Dominion. They've already struck fifteen bases along the Cardassian border. So, this is a huge victory for the good guys! It may just be the turning point of the entire war! There's even a "Welcome to the Fight" party tonight in the wardroom!... So... I lied. I cheated. I bribed men to cover up the crimes of other men. I am an accessory to murder. But most damning of all... I think I can live with it... And if I had to do it all over again... I would. Garak was right about one thing – a guilty conscience is a small price to pay for the safety of the Alpha Quadrant. So I'll learn to live with it...Because I can live with it...I can live with it. Computer – erase that entire personal log."

"I don't see no points in your ears, boy. But you sound like a Vulcan."
"No, sir. I am an android."
"Almost as bad."
-- Admiral McCoy and Data in ST:TNG "Encounter At Farpoint"

I will not sacrifice the Enterprise. We've made too many compromises already; too many retreats. They invade our space and we fall back. They assimilate entire worlds and we fall back. Not again. The line must be drawn here! This far, no further! And I will make them pay for what they've done. -- Capt. Jean-Luc Picard First Contact

"What is it?"

"It is....green"

Bonus points to the first poster who can explain the significance of this line of dialog. If you can identify the episode(s) and the participants, you are halfway there already, and the fact that I said it was used in two episodes will further help.

it was indeed used in two episodes. the first was STTOS and teh second being STTNG
1. said by scotty to a kelvan in a human body, in an attempt to get him (it?) drunk.
2. used again by Data to Scotty in the episode where scotty's ship is found crashed into a Dyson Sphere.
I wonder if the green liquid would have been Chartreuse?
