People Who Wear The Rosary As A Fashion Statement

I don't see anything wrong with someone wearing a Rosary around their neck or even around their wrist. Maybe the sight of it might cause someone to ask the person wearing it what it is, or even ask them how to pray the rosary. But then again, I've seen plenty of people wearing a rosary around their neck with the crucifix torn off of it, that really makes me mad & I hate to see that. I reckon I'll just carry on keeping my rosary in my pocket & let the fashion police arrest me if they want

I concur with [url="http://www.phatmass.com/phorum/index.php?showuser=175"] goldenchild17[/url], it depends on who's wearing it, and who witnesses it. In that case[b] IF [/b]in the end, the Blessed Virgin Mary is pleased, we won't have any more reasons not to be pleased.

Looking at him with great kindness Our Lady said: "As a reward for this little honor that you paid me in wearing my Rosary, I have obtained a great grace for you from my Son. Your life will be spared for a few more years. See that you spend these years wisely, and do penance."

There are some brown scapulars designed to also be able to be used as a rosary. I'm sure no one would critique someone for wearing that and also using it as a rosary.


There needs to be a clear distinction between wearing a rosary as a fashion statement and wearing a rosary as a sacramental. The former has problems, the latter has none whatsoever. It used to be that those praying the rosary during mass would put the rosary around their neck as they went up for communion. That way they could fold their hands underneath the altar rail and not be dangling their rosaries.

That particular rosary belonged to his brother, who held it in his hands for the duration of his hospital stay, up until his death. He was also wearing it because his uncle had passed away weeks before the superintendent told him to remove it.

From what I understand, it's not a sin to wear the rosary if it's more of a sacramental thing, and not merely a piece of jewelry. If there is an official teaching that says otherwise, please let me know.

Yeah, there are loads of hoodlums (aka, saggy pantaloons, flatbilled hats, tattoos and wife beater shirts) on my campus who wears them. I really wanna ask about them. I have never seen any of the "hoodlums" at the Mass I attend, but that doesn't mean they don't go to one of the other Sunday Mass. And that's assuming they don't go home every weekend and go to Mass there.

Before becoming Catholic, when I first started praying the rosary, I wore one regularly around my neck, but I did use it to pray with. I stopped wearing it that way because I kept catching it on things and breaking them, though I have broken as many pulling them out of my pockets.
