Laudate_Dominum

What are snake men? Battlecat and Panthor seem pretty rational. What about Orko, or Mer-Man? The teenage mutant ninja turtles are an interesting case too. Perhaps the scientists who are into animal-human hybrids grew up watching TMNT shows like I did and are just uber stoked about the possibilities. To Whom It May Concern: Would you deny Donatello legal personhood or the possibility of salvation? If you were to meet Master Splinter would you be able to look him in the eye and tell him that he's not human and therefore is theologically worthless and ethically insignificant based on your philosophy? Do you believe that it would be ethical to breed, torture and kill Ewoks for scientific experiments? Do you deny that R2D2 ought to be treated with some dignity for some reason? Do you believe that it would be wrong to torture C-3PO as part of a demolition derby for no reason other than the entertainment of homo sapiens? These, and many others, are the real ethical dilemmas of tomorrow.

BibleReader
Animal Human: Don't know. You will have several levels of compatibility and human likeness. There are a few questions you have to consider. If it is genetically modified to look like a human but have the brain of an animal, or the brain of the human in the body of an animal, which is more significant than the other? Is there a percentage line? Is there a level of behavior you have to consider? It is easy for a human to act like an animal, and possible to train some animals to imitate human behavior. When you make these distinctions, what does it do to the 100% humans who have genetic deformities or diseases. Some people are born unable to pass the tests we may design to determine whether or not a hybrid is human enough. I would not want to be on this committee, people (and hominid hybrids alike) will be hurt. I have worked with the developmentally disabled before and some are very animal like in nature, others are non-functioning, and yet others you can hardly tell the difference. Maybe this is something we can pray about (should the issue arise), and have faith that God will give us wisdom should we ever have to make a decision on the matter. Android: I have read articles where scientists are using DNA strands to build circuits in some new experimental CPU designs. Someone posted something about rat brains and motors. If you build a robot around a human brain is it human? If you take an advanced CPU core and stick it in a human body is it human? Someday circuits may become so advanced that they can simulate every aspect of human behavior. Many things we do are learned and thus imitations and combination's of other things we have acquired in life. Self aware? How could we ever tell. A scientist may create a very well designed simulation and say he has found self awareness, how could tell if the robot is self aware if you are not the robot. You can't trust the robot because it is programmed to be a certain way. How can you tell if it truly feels? Suggested materials: Terminator Salvation Bicentennial Man Sliders (an episode near the end of the third season deals with hybrids, can be found on hulu) Then again, the world may end before we ever have to answer these questions...
