CatholicCrusader
A Novus Ordo priest I know (who says the Tridentine Mass privately) told me also that St. Thomas Aquinas said the Immaculate Conception was unnecessary. I did not doubt his authority; however, when I looked for this I could not find it. You mention it. Where did he state this. Was it in Summa? Thank you and God bless. Pio Nono
JMJ 4/14 - Easter Wednesday CatholicCrusader, Yeah, the article about the Virgin's conception is in the Summa Theologica. Look in the Tertia Pars, Question 27, Article 2, entitled, "Whether the Blessed Virgin was sanctified before animation?" Thomas' answer gives us a good warning that even the best of theologians can be wrong at times. Like St. Augustine, let us never read the words of men as if they were the words of God. I hope this helps. Yours, Pio Nono
