She took my details and then emailed me to say that since the monastery hadn't received the approval of their petition for me yet, there wasn't anything I could do but wait. And I know the approval is being delayed because the monastery had to send in some extra paperwork. The approvals apparently take about 1 month to come through so it really should be here any day now. At which point I make a mad dash to send in my application, wait to be allocated an interview (I have to give them quite a lot of money to do that, by the way - they certainly aren't shy about asking people to pay for entry to the States) ... and then if I pass the interview, I should have my visa 4-5 days after that. So there are quite a few steps left, all of which hinge on getting the $%£!@# approval. Mid-February is not looking hopeful, but I am grateful, more than I can say, for your prayers. Just remember God can work miracles about timing.
