Luigi
I'd draw him if I could, but I'm not much of an artist. The only class I took was figure drawing, and Pius V is wearing clothes! What can I do?

Of course he was careful to specify that he was reconciled with the real pope sometime before his death. Pontianus, I think. Jurgens' belief seems to be that "Hippolytus' position of anti-pope was literally forgotten at an early date, and Pope St. Damascus I honoured his tomb with an inscription that calls him a follower of Novatian, but recalls that he was a martyr who, before his death, admonished his followers to be reconciled to the Church. A tradition grew up, current as early as St. Jerome, that Hippolytus had been bishop of Porto Romanus, one of the suburban Roman sees."

If he believes it, I know it's for a reason, and since I've seen no contrary evidence, I stick with him.
