If I draw Zoroaster am I going to have that woman from The Border and 24 hunt me down and hurt me? She's one of the few of them left, and a Parsisi to boot.

i dont mind being made fun of. i see it as fairly good natured. beleiving in God is no buffer against being an idiot, and certainly some of the people being mocked for it deserve it.

and most of my post was a joke, reading comprehension fail, LD :P
NO YOU!! In actuality what has been stated applies more directly to the former poster than to myself. If I were serious I'd have debated you instead of just saying 'logic fail' but I could tell that you were being tongue-in-cheek. However, fail again for assuming that the problem is with the reader's comprehension and not with your own writing abilities.

1. That was more than four years ago so maybe I've changed my mind.
2. Darth Vader replacing Adam is different in many important ways from the Spaghetti Monster replacing God so you're logic failed again. I'm sure I do not need to spell this out.

Although... Win for finding such a post, I am in awe of your search abilities.

There is no double standard and I'll try to explain why on a third grade level.

1. Even if there were a double standard (based on a more than four year old post) this would not invalidate my previous points. If you believe that it would you are illogical and we have nothing further to discuss.
2. The meaning of the Darth Vader picture is not blasphemous. Unlike the Spaghetti Monster, Darth Vader is not an icon of pop atheism. Also, and most obviously, the image of God the Father has not been altered. Further, the "joke" is the irony of the fact that God is Vader's Father. In no way does that image seek to ridicule theists, insult and/or deny God, or promote pop atheism.
3. If you really don't understand the purpose of the Spaghetti Monster meme in popular atheism I really don't believe it is my place to explain it. Richard Dawkins book The God Delusion may be of interest. The purpose and meaning of the Spaghetti Monster is similar to Dawkin's Invisible Pink Unicorn.

I got a -1 on a Catholic board for pointing out that the Flying Spaghetti Monster is pop-atheist propaganda. Now that is fascinating. I don't see this as being about "lightening up" and "making fun of yourself," it is about allowing God to be mocked and endorsing tacky anti-religious propaganda.

j_lol's post was funny and cool, but if you actually believe that a valid point was made by that post then we have nothing to discuss. If this were the lame board I'd be more inclined to joke around, but this thread, insofar as it is serious, positively disgusts me.

Accusations? I wouldn't read an accusatory tone into my posts, this would go against my actual intentions and the point of the posts. To me, the FSM is in the same category as Raptor Jesus or the LOL Jesus. My impression of the meme comes largely from an atheist board where I was once an active participant. It is shocking to me to find a celebration of this meme on phatmass.

Again, accusing...

Who celebrated it? Show me the posts.

P.S. You cannot claim JLOL speaks for phatmass

P.P.S. when you can't find your celebratory posts I will accept your apology.

Kind of double edged isn't it? Just like the word being used by Catholics and therefore losing its power.

The argument is juvenile and not very intelligent, which is ironic since this is what they claim they have on their side.

What do I know, I'm just a dumb Christian.

And who is Zoraster?

I can only respond to this -- whatever it is -- with sarcasm. I appreciate your openness to understanding my point of view.
