MissScripture
I'm giving my sister a "bachelorette party" before she goes to joint the convent in the fall. We're going to watch movies with the theme of "Nun" Movies --basically any movies with habited sisters playing key roles in the story. We've come up with a couple movies, but does anyone have more suggestions? What we have so far: Sister Act Trouble with Angels Therese

Not sure whether these titles are exact, but they're close. All well-known movies. I haven't seen "This House of Brede" but a lot of people on PM have recommended it, along with the book by Rumer Godden. BTW, I've also heard these get-togethers called "Bride of Christ" showers, and the guests would bring gifts of things your sister told them she would need in the convent. I still like to watch things, even if I know how they end. My sis-in-law won't watch things if she doesn't know how it ends, so I've gotten used to knowing endings. MissyP89
There's a movie about St. Bernadette, I think it's called Bernadette of Lourdes, that I think is cool. Her stubbornness is comical and heartwarming in a lot of ways. Not exactly a party movie, but it's worth the suggestion.
Hilde
Yeah I've seen a movie called Bernadette, it was in black and white.

AccountDeleted
There are two newer movies about Bernadette and they might have come from a made for TV movie, I don't know. I got them on DVD and the first one was about before she entered the convent (when she had the visions) and the second one was called The Passion of Bernadette, I think, and was about her life in the convent until her death. The Nun's Story is great but she does leave, and the same with the Singing Nun (Sister Sourire) - even though in the movie with Debbie Reynolds, they don't show her leaving - they end it happy, in real life, she did leave and her life didn't end well, so I would give these a miss. The mini-series about St Teresa of Avila is good - but loooonnnnggg, as is the mini series about St Teresa of the Andes (both in Spanish with subtitles). There is a another good one about St Rita but it is very sad until nearly the end when she finally does get to enter the convent (she had a really tough life) and is happy. There is one about Mother Teresa that is nice too but I'm afraid I'm no good with movie titles so you might have to google it.

fides' Jack
Francis and Clare? I thought it was good, and although the majority was about St. Francis, they had a good deal of St. Clare in there. Good nun movie. Two thumbs way, way up!
