Dave
Anyone here have a song they like that they consider their anthem? I do. As some of you know from our chats, PMs, etc., I struggle with beating myself up about insecurities I've struggled with in the past, and it has kept me from appreciating the present and the future. So I've decided to make the song "Don't Stop" by Fleetwood Mac my anthem: If you wake up and don't want to smile, If it takes just a little while, Open your eyes and look at the day, You'll see things in a different way. Don't stop, thinking about tomorrow, Don't stop, it'll soon be here, It'll be, better than before, Yesterday's gone, yesterday's gone. Why not think about times to come, And not about the things that you've done, If your life was bad to you, Just think what tomorrow will do. Don't stop, thinking about tomorrow, Don't stop, it'll soon be here, It'll be, better than before, Yesterday's gone, yesterday's gone. All I want is to see you smile, If it takes just a little while, I know you don't believe that it's true, I never meant any harm to you. Don't stop, thinking about tomorrow, Don't stop, it'll soon be here, It'll be, better than before, Yesterday's gone, yesterday's gone. Don't you look back, Don't you look back. Lil Red
I'm Movin' On by Rascal Flatts I've dealt with my ghosts and I've faced all my demons Finally content with a past I regret I've found you find strength in your moments of weakness For once I'm at peace with myself I've been burdened with blame, trapped in the past for too long I'm movin' on I've lived in this place and I know all the faces Each one is different but they're always the same They mean me no harm but it's time that I face it They'll never allow me to change But I never dreamed home would end up where I don't belong I'm movin' on I'm movin' on At last I can see life has been patiently waiting for me And I know there's no guarantees, but I'm not alone There comes a time in everyone's life When all you can see are the years passing by And I have made up my mind that those days are gone I sold what I could and packed what I couldn't Stopped to fill up on my way out of town I've loved like I should but lived like I shouldn't I had to lose everything to find out Maybe forgiveness will find me somewhere down this road I'm movin' on I'm movin' on I'm movin' on
immaculata
This is mine right now.. I swear, it was written for me and Matt! -_- Forgive Me Evanescence Can you forgive me again? I don't know what I said But I didn't mean to hurt you I heard the words come out I felt like I would die It hurt so much to hurt you Then you look at me You're not shouting anymore You're silently broken I'd give anything now to keep those words from you Each time I say something I regret I cry "I don't want to lose you." But somehow I know that you will never leave me, yeah. 'Cause you were made for me Somehow I'll make you see How happy you make me I can't live this life Without you by my side I need you to survive So stay with me You look in my eyes and I'm screaming inside that I'm sorry. And you forgive me again You're my one true friend And I never meant to hurt you

Sojourner
After some thought, I think mine has to be the song "Hurt," originally done by Nine Inch Nails. The version I'm claiming, though, is the cover done by Johnny Cash. It's simply amazing, and brings me to tears every time I see the video or hear the song. Hurt I hurt myself today To see if I still feel I focus on the pain The only thing that's real The needle tears a hole The old familiar sting I try to kill it all away But I remember everything What have I become My sweetest friend? Everyone I know Goes away in the end You could have it all My empire of dirt I will let you down I will make you hurt I wear this crown of thorns Upon my liar's chair Full of broken thoughts I cannot repair Beneath the stains of time The feelings disappear You are someone else I am still right here What have I become My sweetest friend? Everyone I know Goes away in the end You could have it all My empire of dirt I will let you down I will make you hurt If I could start again A million miles away I would keep myself I would find a way. God Conquers
I'm not sure I have an anthem right now. It used to be Anything, by Goldfinger: I'm a mortal in search of a party, I'm a lover in search of a quest... I'll have to think on this one a bit more. God Conquers
booo... I've been double-posting lately. Also, I guess if I can't think of one, I don't have one.
Sojourner
I thought of another one, mainly because I was listening to it this morning ... it's "Poughkeepsie", by Over the Rhine: Poughkeepsie I thought I'd go up Poughkeepsie, look out o'er the Hudson, and I'd throw my body down on the river. And I'd know no more sorrow, I'd fly like the sparrow and I'd ride on the backs of the angels tonight. I'd ride on the backs of the angels tonight. I'd take to the sky with all my might. No more drowning in my sorrow, no more drowning in my fright, I'd just ride on the backs of the angels tonight. There are those who know sorrow and those who must borrow and those whose lot in life is sweet. Well I'm drunk on self-pity, scorned all that's been given me, I would drink from a bottle labeled Sure Defeat. I'd ride on the backs of the angels tonight. I'd take to the sky with all my might. No more drowning in my sorrow, no more drowning in my fright, I'd just ride on the backs of the angels tonight. Then the skies, they fell open and my eyes were opened to a world of hope falling at my feet. Now I've no more or less than anyone else has, what I have is a gift of life I can't repeat. So I go up Poughkeepsie, look out o'er the Hudson and I cast my worries to the sky. Now I still know sorrow, but I can fly like the sparrow 'cause I ride on the backs of the angels tonight. I ride on the backs of the angels tonight. I take to the sky with all their might. No more drowning in my sorrow, no more drowning in my fright, I'll just ride on the backs of the angels each night. crusader1234
Although Bob Dylan is my hero... and his music is my fauovrite.. my 'theme song' or anthem at the moment is Mother Nature's Son by the beatles. Born a poor young country boy--Mother Nature's son All day long I'm sitting singing songs for everyone. Sit beside a mountain stream--see her waters rise Listen to the pretty sound of music as she flies. Find me in my field of grass--Mother Nature's son Swaying daises sing a lazy song beneath the sun. the_rev
Who am I by Casting Crowns Who am I, that the Lord of all the earth Would care to know my name Would care to feel my hurt Who am I, that the Bright and Morning Star Would choose to light the way For my eevr wandering heart Not because of who I am But because of what You've done Not because of what I've done But because of who You are I am a flower quickly fading Here today and gone tomorrow A wave tossed in the ocean A vapor in the wind Still You hear me when I'm calling Lord, You catch me when I'm falling And You've told me who I am I am Yours Who am I, that the eyes that see my sin Would look on me with love and watch me rise again Who am I, that the voice that calmed the sea Would call out through the rain And calm the storm in me Not because of who I am But because of what You've done Not because of what I've done But because of who You are I am a flower quickly fading Here today and gone tomorrow A wave tossed in the ocean A vapor in the wind Still You hear me when I'm calling Lord, You catch me when I'm falling And You've told me who I am I am Yours, I am Yours I am Yours Whom shall I fear Whom shall I fear 'Cause I am Yours I am Yours

cathgirl
This is the first one I thought of! You are Near Yahweh, I know you are near, standing always at my side. You guard me from the foe, and you lead me in ways everlasting. (Chorus) Lord, you have searched my heart and you know when I sit and when I stand. Your hand is upon me protecting me from death, keeping me from harm. (Chorus) Where can I run from your love? If I climb to the heavens you are there. If I fly to the sunrise or sail beyond the sea, still I'd find you there. (Chorus) You know my heart and it's ways, you formed me before I was born In the secret of darkness before I saw the sun in my mother's womb. (Chorus) Marvelous to me are your works; how profound are your thoughts, my Lord. Fven if I could count them, they number as the stars, you would still be there.
