I have heard and it may not be accurate, that often times Mormons operate these sites so that they can "baptize" the dead? I have always been careful of this type of site for that reason. Anyone know if this is true? I would be interested looking into my genealogy more. [/quote]I am a paid subscriber to ancestry, and its not the site run by the mormons. This is the mormon site, and has some good information on it, you don't have to upload anything to it, plus it is free http://www.familysearch.org/eng/default.asp There is an overwhelming amount of information at ancestry that could take years to go thru, literally millions of records and cross-references and documents besides the censuses. You have to be careful of the trees at ancestry, someone puts in a fact on a relative and 20 people copy it before verifying its acccuracy. ALWAYS look for the source and check it yourself. NEVER copy something because 15 other trees says its correct. It is very helpful to find other fellow researchers in your family that you didn't even knew existed and compare notes. I have been given valuable information by distant "cousins" who I will never meet, but simply enjoy digging up roots.
