Spiritual_Arsonist
Your sister is the weird one. Welcome to the "club."
Dave
Blessed are you when people persecute you! Yours is the kingdom of heaven! It's so unfortunate that what's normal and what's right are too vastly different things. Would that all kids preferred "right-ness" to normality! homeschoolmom
Hooray for the weird kids! I have "weird" kids too. Everyone is always accusing the homeschool kids of being weird... I hear it all the time and I'm sure you do to. I am sooooo thankful that my 8 year old would rather play "My Little Ponies" than Christina Agulara (or whatever... we don't even know her around here)... Yep, MLPs are sickeningly sweet, but I'll take it!!! I am soooo ready for our homeschool convention this weekend!! Need to hang out with the other weirdos for awhile... ilovechrist
homeschoolers ROCK! mom25, you have no right to be sad---your sister needs to figure out why her kids aren't just as weird as yours are ... our fam is very similar to what you describe yours, and i'll tell you--just cuz i'm about to be one of the main musicians performing at our Diocese's Youth Conference with Christian music, that makes me weird! i could strip down to jeans and make the headlines of MAXIM as one of the hottest guys in the universe and be "normal", but no i plan to do my own version of "Awesome God" and a few new songs i've composed, cuz this could be my big chance to get noticed as an artist (not just as a pianist), so i'm going all out! in short, ignore what others say about your kids. YOU know how special, talented and holy they are, and noone can change that
jmjtina
We have been labeled wierd too!!!!!! haha. it's a good thing!!!! flowery is the exception. she IS wierd! praying for you and your family! Don't let your sis get to you. What I've found out, is that when they say that, they wish they're kids were just like yours! Peace and God Bless you!

littleflower+JMJ
My sister says my kids are weird ................they "decorated" outside for Easter Sunday with side walk chalk. We have an egg hunt every year that my sister and her kids come to. The kids decorated with eggs, bunnies, crosses, "He is Risen" signs and my personal favorite...they made a sign for our Mary statue reading "Mother Mary" with a hand drawn picture of the Sacred Heart. They sang "Jesus remember me when You come into Your kingdom" and "Mary, Oh Mama" while they were "hunting". All this was their plan for celebrating the day. The planned it for days before Easter and loved every min of the day. My sister sent me an email saying, "Gosh, Sarah, the kids are getting a little weird since you've been homeschooling." I want to cry. It's one thing to say bad things about me, I'm a grown up, I can handle it but MY KIDS. That's another story altogether. Please pray for me that I can let go of this anger right now. I don't know if I should even respond to this or not. At this point I would probably just be really ugly with her so I'm going to have to lighten up a little first.
your children sound so beautiful and not at all "weird", they sound like true children of God who know Jesus and their faith all because you showed them and taught them love and all about heaven. your family has something sacred, holy and priceless. No one can call that weird, unless they do not wish to admit to the beauty of faith that they are witnessing. children show us how to love Jesus in a pure and loving way that is ever trusting, your children have that. that is not weird but special.....heavenly special. do not listen to this world, for they do not know anything of good. my mom, who has 6 kids, always got insulted by others for not "letting" us be "normal" like other kids. today im thankful, i know the difference between what is wordly and really counts..Jesus and the faith. continue to do what you are doing, pay them no heed, in fact be comforted that you got told such a thing, its a good sign tht your doing a good job because this world dispises anything that is of good. continue being the wonderful mother, continue to teach them, i too dream and pray that i can be as good as a mother as you are. you are one awesome mother, taking care of your children more than alot of others are, by teaching them truth and love. God bless. +JMJ
mom25angels
Gosh, guys I feel sooooo much better now. I've settled down now. I AM GLAD my kids are weird. I guess I'm just ticked my sister thinks so(in a negative way)!!!!!! And yep I'm glad they didn't dress like Brittany Spears for halloween(like my nieces) and I'm sooooooo proud of them for thinking of Jesus and Mary while decorating for EASTER. You guys are the best. Pray for me that I can handle this with my sister with charity. I'll be praying in thanksgiving for you all tonight. Tommorrow we're going to Wildlife Prairie Park with some more "weird" kids so I'm sure I'll be in a much better mood, then. Sarah and Blazer thanks for that wonderfull post to put things in perspective!!
SacredTruth
Whenever I tell my friend Justin he isnt "normal" He always comes back with... "Normal is just a setting on the washing machine." simple as that. basically I think he's saying he is who he is by his own will. He's not "programmed" to be someone or to do certain things just to please society. He's not a "setting" Not just another stop on the dial. Besides Different is beautiful...
