Archaeology cat
Ooh, hey. You could always talk to your priest(s) in person when you're home again, wanting to know what the deal is. Sometimes the receptionists don't communicate well with the priests.
I was going to say something like that. I agree that people tend to go more when Confession is offered more. My parish only offers it on Saturdays from 12.30-1.00 (there are 5 weekend Masses, to give an idea of size). I notice maybe 10 people there, and not all of them are there for Confession, as Adoration is also during that time. The Cathedral offers Confession daily, and there's quite often a queue for it. BG45
In our church St Anthony's in Hawthorn Melbourne confession is available whenever someone comes into the church. They just have to press a button and the buzzer rings in the friary and the priest on duty heads down to the shrine.
That is so awesome Father! I need to go to Confession before I leave anyway and I would definitely like to attend a Mass there.
The Thurifer
When I am a priest... I would rather do confessions by appointment in my office then confessions on a saturday in a confessional (of course it is not to say I can only chose one)
In my parish, confessions were once limited to half an hour on Saturday afternoon. Now, we have 45 minutes of confession four mornings a week, two hours on Wednesday night, two hours Saturday morning, and two hours Saturday afternoon. In addition, confessions can be had by appointment whenever needed. If a priest is too busy to hear confessions, HE IS TOO BUSY.
jeffpugh
The Basilians at University of Toronto hold confession almost every day. 11:30 weekdays and 4pm Sat.
HisChildForever
So, my dad mentioned it to one of our priests while I was gone. And today the bulletin read "Confession: Saturdays 11am-noon". Yep, they removed the "and by appointment" bit.
