Hassan
Of wasting my 'obvious talents'. According to a Professor in an email sent to me. Normally I'd just reply humbly thanking them for their observation and resolve to work to improve my poor class attendence et cetera. However I personally like this professor. He's kind a sardonic Scotsman who is actually quite funny. Though most people don't seem to notice given that it is an 8:00am class. I remember him lecturing on the START missile treaties and then noting in a thick Scottish accent, "Yeah, tragically the whole history of the Cold Way is plagued with these stupid acronyms". Anyway, because I like him personally and he's been very nice to me, I agreed to meet with him tomorrow. I've never met with a professor or regular teacher in these circumstances before and am not quite sure what to do.
jeffpugh
I'd be scared out of my mind. I would probably expect chastisement. But at least it will be in a Scottish accent. That will be win.

CatherineM
The first time I had one of those conferences was with Sister Jean in 6th grade. She explained to my parents that I wasn't reaching my potential. I had the highest grades on the Stanford test of anyone in my class, so she thought I should be farther ahead in my school work. Our math back then was at your own pace, and I wasn't in any hurry.
Hilde
Yes I agree, whatever he'll say will be in scottish so it'll be kinda good anyway. He must just really care a lot, you see.
CatherineM
He probably wants to sign you up as a student research assistant to work you half to death, for no money, and probably no credit either.
Era Might
I had a professor who really changed my life (in large part because he opened my eyes to the foolishness of the schooling system that we students are put through). He's become a real friend. Who knows what will come of your meeting...but it's unfortunate that the schooling system destroys most possibility for a genuine human interaction between young people and the professors who could really impart some wise advice to them. It's great when such a human interaction takes place despite the schooling system.

Ed Normile
No problem, bring along a bottle of Balmenach, its a fine a single malt Scotch Whiskey and he will probably pass you on the spot, Heck, I know I would and I am Irish! Seriously though, be on time, be well mannered and dress for the occasion, that way he will see you are making an effort to take him and your education seriously. ed
