I m not getting too much into this discussion, but limbo is not relevent to the statement you quoted from the Council.. Limbo is not Heaven, it is not a place in Heaven at all. It is seperate and distinct place. So the belief in it is not condemed.


Also, in referane to something said below.

Purgatory is not the same place as limbo at all, Purgatory is a doctrinal requirment, Limbo is mnot, Purgatory is a place of positive punishment Limbo is a place of natural happieness.

i quoted a couple posts back that infants go to hell, as authoritative teaching. if limbo were defined, that'd contradict that they go to hell. if heaven is a possibility, that'd contradict that they go to hell.
