tm30
crusader1234: Gibson is "throwing around" the possibility of a pre-quel to the Passion, obviously covering the childhood and ministry of Christ. The principal actors are interested, though Gibson is first going to film an epic based on the British woman who drove the Romans from the U.K.... I can't remember the title, but it's going to be an epic. Gibson is also considering re-releasing "The Passion" at Christmas. I don't think this will be a good idea. I think he should make this a traditional Holy Week film, as the sorrowful nature of the Passion will probably not draw much of an audience during the joyful season of Advent. Hollywood will not change, though we wish it too. As someone who used to work in Hollywood, I can tell you that the inner circle is so tight, I highly doubt the Passion will receive a single Oscar nomination beyond Best Score, and perhaps Cinematography. The good news is this: "The Passion" has uncovered a dormant audience that avoided cinema-fare that progressively became more violent, more obscene, and more anti-Christian over the past twenty years. The media is the most powerful weapon of Satan, this cannot be denied. But with Gibson's film, new ground has been broken. It's my opinion that "religious" or "biblical" films will still be near impossible to get produced/distributed. However, historical figures (biopics) and perhaps historical events (such as the early persecution of Catholic-Christians by Nero) will be more attractive to studios. Furthermore, storylines that exhibit human qualities (over propensity towards evil) and the "way of the cross" (redemption through personal suffering instead of "redemption" by making other people suffer, which is the way of Hollywood) will also be more welcome than before. DemonSlayer
No, what I meant was that the film was completed some years ago, but it has not been released yet, in fact last they wanted to release it last year, but they couldn't get enough donations and site hits. Angelone
Its good and very encouraging to know that other Catholic Movies in the works... We should all give all prayers and support to such releases. Having said that, I believe that for the time being we should be concentrating on Therese movie. This has now been ready for some time and is waiting for our contributions and support to be released. A lot of talent, sacrifice, dedication, energy and prayers have been invested in this Movie. It will be a great pity if due to indifference from a lot of us Catholics this movie does not get the support and finance required to get it rolling. We can dream, hope, long and fantasize on a lot of other movie's - its healthy and I do recommend it. But, let us not push aside the one which is already "a dream come true" and is just waiting and begging for our support to be released. GIVE YOUR SUPPORT TODAY.....
