No joke, a Catholic-themed pub needs to be made.

Well, there should be a Crucifix hanging right above the bar...

and a holy water font at the door, so that phatmassers, when blessing themselves will say, "Blessed be this bar and all who dwell here!"

Naturally. And pictures of popes and saints everywhere. And laminated copies of church documents at very table for people to read while their food is prepared. And the waiters and waitresses great everyone by saying "Peace be with you".
Um... yeah... so I've thought about this before.

I have no desire to be a party pooper, but even in the Republic of Ireland, relations between Protestants and Catholics can be tense at times, and probably more sensitive than in the U.S. (I'm just guessing this--I've never been to Ireland.) If we are going to sponsor a "pub," I think, by definition, it would have to be open to all comers--and that is probably what we would want anyway. We like fun people. But, a pub is not a church, so if our intention is that everyone is welcome, I think we want to be sure that the Catholic theme isn't carried so far that the message could be misinterpreted.

However, if we want the pub to celebrate Catholicism, which is perfectly fine as far as I'm concerned, we may be wiser to designate it as a "private club." That way, anyone who wants to join is welcome, but knows exactly what the club is all about. BTW--I'm just guessing at the rules for "pubs" versus "private clubs" in Ireland. I just know that we want everyone to feel good and have a fun time.

P.S. I warned you that you might be creating a "monster" if you taught me how to use "mulitquote."

There are coagulated milk restaurants in the US?
Chuck-E-coagulated milk bills itself as a pizza restaurant. However, there are many people, including myself, who would be ashamed to serve what they call "pizza." However, screaming kids love the place. (There are a great many wonderful, nice, well-behaved children in the U.S., but, you won't find them at Chuck-E-coagulated milk.) Thanks MIkolbe. I've heard the cider in Ireland is very good, and is NOT the same as what we call cider in the U.S.

Agreed. I kinda created this thread in the hopes people would cool down a bit... They did, but not because of my thread.

You guys clearly need to come visit Ottawa.
Pub Italia

Lonely Planet Ranking: 49th best pub in the world.

Attached to it is a sweet little Belgian style pub called "The Abbey", also filled with religious paintings and art.

The sweetest.
