They occur randomly in nature and are harvested.
Are you sure you're not mixing them up with scapulas? Although the "harvesting" part sounds a bit gruesome, unless maybe it's part of an organ donation program. Or perhaps you mean spatulas. They make excellent and useful wedding favors. IgnatiusofLoyola
FutureNunJMJ--Sorry for hijacking your thread. Even if only for a moment. I think this is great and hope you get lots of orders. Confession: I had to look up on the Internet to find what a Chaplet was. Whoa! Too many options! LOL

Piccoli Fiori JMJ
It's not paper, but it's not woven. It's like something in-between ... (hard to explain ... but it's actually not bad!) If you're looking for WOVEN pictures, I think perhaps you may want to contact the people here: http://www.scapularofmountcarmel.com/ -- I've never ordered from them, so I can't vouch for it, but I'm sure you'll find the info. helpful, and it's probably more in line with what you want.
Yes, I've seen them in my research. I'd prefer to use the woven ones because they are washable and can be soaked without damage. Now, I'm looking to find the cheapest source of 100% wool felt fabric. A few sites sell it individually (not in a scapular kit), but it still is expensive (as far as fabric goes). CatherineM
The last time I made a scapular, I got the felt from a thrift store. It was a brown vest.
