Piccoli Fiori JMJ
+JMJ I've been inspired recently to make Rosaries, Chaplets and Scapulars to sell to work on my student loans so I can enter Corpus Christi Monastery sooner than later. I was curious if anyone made scapulars, and if so, where you get materials from. Thanks!
God Conquers
I would so buy homemade sacramentals like that. Let us know when you do it!
Piccoli Fiori JMJ
If you are interesting in other sacramentals, you could write the Rockford Poor Clares. They've started making some old sacramentals recently and have been making Rosaries and some Chaplets for years. Here's the article from our Diocesan paper. Cherie
The community I was with made scapulars, and I was actually the one who ordered the supplies! They are, I believe, $25 a kit (might be a bit less, but a kit makes a LOT of scapulars, 100 or so I think, so it's worth it! In any case, they will send you as many kits as your donation provides, so don't worry about sending too much or too little) and you can purchase them by contacting: The Scapular Guild PO BOX 4651 PHILADELPHIA, PA 19127 They aren't very tech-savvy, so they don't have a website. I had a very hard time even getting a phone number from them even when I was a Sister (I finally got it, but I can't remember it, unfortunately!), so I can't find it online, but if you write them and send a check (or even wait to send a check) they will be very prompt in replying to you. I promise they are 100% legitimate, and they are a good cause -- they'll send you their little homemade catalog when they send you the materials. If you have ANY problems contact me and I will reimburse you, but I promise you won't have any trouble.
mommas_boy
My fiancee and I are getting married on the feast of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, July 16th, 2011. We want to give out scapulars to all of our guests: about 120-160. Let me know if you would like to take on a bulk order.

It would certainly be an honor to make them for you, I don't know if I would be the one who would be able to make them in time.
CatherineM
I have made rosaries for decades, and I really enjoy it. I do knotted ones on waxed linen and most of the time Jacob's tears. I also love making them out of exotic stone like jasper or tiger eye. I have made some with venetian glass beads too. I love finding bead strands at thrift stores to use. I find it relaxing to make them, and enjoy just giving them away when I'm in the mood and make lots of them all at once.
Totus Tuus
I'm sick, and I read this, "Does anyone make sculptures." I was about to ask my artsy friends if they knew where to get supplies to make sculptures. Glad I reread the title...

But, my facebook page currently tells me that there are 445 days until our wedding, so ... let me know if you get it figured out in time. We would love to be able to tell our guests all about the scapulars, and THEN tell them that the person who made them is doing so so that she can become a bride of Christ. We would be just as honored.

(hard to explain ... but it's actually not bad!) If you're looking for WOVEN pictures, I think perhaps you may want to contact the people here: http://www.scapularofmountcarmel.com/ -- I've never ordered from them, so I can't vouch for it, but I'm sure you'll find the info. helpful, and it's probably more in line with what you want. So yes, I believe there will be plenty of time. Let me see what happens and I will let you know!
Lol. I wish we were getting married this summer. Don't worry. It's a little common in our conversations. People keep asking why we're waiting that long. Problem is, it's for financial reasons. But ya, let me know how this goes. I've already found another site that will definitely do them for us, but if it will help you to enter the convent sooner, then we're all over that. Winchester
Nobody makes scapulars. They occur randomly in nature and are harvested.
