Cherie
Creighton is not difficult and you usually work with an instructor or doctor who has been trained through their national institute. I find it much easier than the CCL version, but then I am a guy. It is a sticker based program (green, white, and red) based on external observation. I am sure you will catch on quickly.
At first, it seemed like it would be VERY confusing, and I was a bit intimidated at the beginning. Keep with it. In no time, it will be like second nature. I use Creighton Model and I HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend it. Our little guy in utero (I'm 16 weeks along) wouldn't be here when he is if it weren't for Creighton model. I recommend it to everyone I know, especially those with irregular cycles or infertility problems. It has a very high success rate for couples wishing to conceive. Of course, if you're using it to conceive you could also use it as a method of NFP. What I love about the instructors is that they are very family-oriented. They realize that couples who need to use it for a time can, but they encourage couples to be open to life. I was blessed to be a patient of an NFP-only OB/GYN practice in the part of PA where I grew up --- they taught me the Creighton Model, and I'm so grateful I learned it! tinytherese
This may be a silly question to ask, but if you take anti-depressants would that affect your cycle? I'm taking cymbalta.
Archaeology cat
I use Billings, but I can say that it really does become second nature. TT - I don't know off-hand. I'll see what I can find. I wouldn't think so, though, since I wouldn't think an antidepressant would affect cervical mucus.

I'm taking cymbalta.
Not sure. This is unrelated, but looking at the data for prozac vs. progesterone support (what's used in NaPro), the Progesterone is much better at handling period-related depression (both PMS and PMDD). Now, I'm not saying that you have PMS, it's just that this is the data that I have to use. I'm making the assumption that the body is a complicated machine, and that if one treatment is so effective for one sickness, it's very likely to be effective for similar sicknesses. Here's data for PMS: (Link) In the above graph, fluoxetine is Prozac. HCG is an additional hormone that is often used in conjunction with progesterone. (( Conclusion from this graph: more women experienced relief from PMS-type symptoms using NaPro than from using Prozac. )) Here's some data on post-partum: (( Conclusion: The number of women experiencing each of the above symptoms significantly decreased when using NaPro. )) (( Conclusion: The average number of symptoms that each woman experienced while using NaPro also significantly improved. )) You may need to zoom (Ctrl-+) in order to see what's written on the graph axes. (Link) Again, you're not pregnant, so you can't possibly have post-partum, but you can see that NaPro seems to be having a positive effect on women's mental states. So it is possible that, if someone is experiencing period-related depression, then NaPro TECHNOLOGY might be of some help to them. EDIT: You may be able to find a NaPro TECHNOLOGY physician at this page: http://www.fertilitycare.org ... and then select "Find a medical consultant." mommas_boy
I have a question. NaPro primarily uses progesterone to regulate a woman's hormone levels. But, isn't progesterone an active ingredient in one of the kinds of birth control? How would progesterone affect conception? How would progesterone affect gestation?
Progesterone is the natural hormone that is necessary for women to conceive and keep their child in the womb (among other things) - many women who have early miscarriages can attribute it to lack of progesterone in her body. When put on progesterone therapy, often she can prevent early miscarriage and go on to deliver a healthy, full-term baby. Progestin is the synthetic hormone in many birth control pills. It is not progesterone, although the similarity in spelling is attributed to the fact that progestin has some progesterone-like characteristic (but also some very NON-progesterone-like characteristics!)
