This is something I've been thinking about lately. I'd be happy to hear your opinions.

If I'm eating only cake, I normally eat it with a fork. But, I prefer cake with ice cream on it, and then I use a spoon for both.

However, I have been known to just use my fingers. (One of the benefits of living alone is that there is no one to criticize your manners.)

there is no spoon

If you need a spoon, I can loan you one. What I can't loan you is a knife. For whatever reason, I am down to three table knives, and three steak knives. I think they were stolen by the same creatures that steal my socks from the dryer.

No spork option?

Sporks are the evolutionary equivalent of tableware. Cutlery with an identity crisis. I can't even come up with its own name, not only stealing the best parts of a fork and a spoon, but taking their names for itself as well. Any self-respecting psychiatrist will look long and hard at the mental state of a person who uses a spork.

I have a theory that the sock monsters also love silverware (they have taken 3 of my spoons too!) & that they store them in the rings of saturn. But that's just a theory... :) .

Forks are for solids, i.e. cake. Spoons are for liquids, i.e. soup. I get weirded out when I see people eating what I consider to be fork foods with a spoon. It's just one of my idiosyncrasies, I suppose.

Spork sounds like a bad disease a Vulcan might get.

It's not my forks that are missing--it's my knives! Perhaps the retired Sisters are using them to fight the forces of evil. However, 3 of the knives are kitchen knives and the steak knives are pretty dull, so I doubt anyone will get hurt.

That's doubtful. I'm pretty sure the Church condemns superstitions such as silver repelling werewolves.
