laetitia crucis
The high school where I work just released the yearbooks and one of my brightest students chose the following quote: "You have your way. I have my way. As for the right way, the correct way, and the only way, it does not exist." -Friedrich Nietzsche
That is depressing. Maybe he just thinks it's really "cool" to quote Nietzche...
My yearbook quote was: "Strength in this life. Happiness in the next." which is fairly dark, huh. Fast forward 5 years or so ... I'm watching Oliver Stone's "Nixon." And he has Nixon's mother, Hannah, tell little 9 year old Johnsonville brat: "Strength in this life, Richard. Happiness in the next." Creepy huh?
Whoa. That is creepy. This makes me wish we got to have quotes for our yearbook. However, I suppose with a class of 497 that might taken up a lot of room. Hmmm... on second thought, thinking back to what I probably thought spoke the words of my soul in a single quote... well, perhaps I should be grateful I was never given the opportunity. Haha! jeffpugh
I can't remember if I submitted my quote in time or not. I actually don't really care, either. High school wasn't the fairy tale it is with Americans.
I'd agree. Except for a select few of the beautiful and popular, high school in America is FAR from the best time of your life for a great many (most?) people. That's not to say that nothing good happens--for example, I made some very good friends. But, overall, I think I would have missed a lot of negative experiences and had a better self-image if I had been in a coma from ages 13-18. Well, we do have band camp in the U.S. But, I never went to band camp (being that I was a string player), so I can't say if it would have made up for all the bad stuff. MissyP89
High school smells of elderberries. The only good thing about it was theatre, band, and my reversion.
