immaculata
okay, so today I accidentally clicked on a pop-up link, and it installed some wacky thing on my computer. It went through my favorites and added a whole bunch of links. Now I'm getting pop-under ads that my blockers won't block. It changed my search bar on Internet Explorer, and even though I change it back, the next time I go to a new webpage, it changes the search bar back. I tried to go into Settings > Add/Remove Programs. I deleted the file that I thought was the bug, but it reinstalled itself. HOW DO I GET RID OF THIS THING?!?!?!?!? luciana
Get Spybot-Search and Destroy for your computer. It'll get rid of the spyware or browser hijacker you have. A browser hijacker kind of takes over your internet browser, which is what your problem sounds like to me. You can use the program periodically to get rid of junk that builds up on your computer from ads and popups which slows your computer. It also blocks spyware from being installed on your computer.I like the program and use it often. You can also get SpywareBlaster or Ad-Aware, those are also good programs. I have SpywareBlaster, too; it prevents junk from getting on your computer. I'm nowhere near a computer geek (my bro. helped me find this stuff for my comp. My sister accidentally got us some stinky viruses and junk last year. now our computer is so much faster)so check out the virus and security message board there at computing.net for help: http://computing.net/security/wwwboard/wwwboard.html Here's part of the board where they reccommend diff. programs for your computer and give links: http://computing.net/windowsme/wwwboard/forum/41772.htm l Spybot-Search and Destroy: Got ot site click on download http://www.safer-networking.org/ Hope this helps!
careful with those adds. they're prolly decoys to trick you into giving the permission to install something on your computer. (aka trojans) *never* give permission to anything you didn't specifically ask for.
