Scandal In Norway

Today, the church has made public why one of our bishops left abruptly last year. We have three dioceses in Norway, and had three bishops. Last year bishop Müller left, the pope had "accepted his resignation" and people were left confused. The bishop of Oslo, Bernt Eidsvig was appointed as apostolic leader of this diocese.

So anyways, today a message was released by the bishop Bernt. I don't have a link in english but here's a Norwegian link.
It's an old case from the 80's that was brought up, and action was taken fast which is a positive.

If you're interested I'll keep you updated if I find some new links maybe in English.

I hope this isn't troll fodder, and that they'll look at the positive in how quickly the Congregation of faith acted, instead of thinking Catholic priests are abusers.

:sadder:

Hilde knows about Bishop John Willem Gran, maybe few of the rest of us do. He died a few years ago. Not only a Norwegian bishop, but a Trappist monk! And from what I can tell, an exceptional positive example.
He wrote out his memoirs, which were published in his native Norwegian; I think they waited until he died to publish an English translation, which I am reading now. This could help Hilde focus on the positive too. I have trouble putting this book down -- especially after his conversion as an adult! (He started out atheist like his father.)

No I haven't really read any of his books, I'll look into that.

The media is really ripping this up, man. Several people I know have been in the news saying stuff and things.

Secrecy is one thing they're accused of(the reason for Müller's firing was kept hidden for 9 months and not reported to the police according to the wishes of the victim) and the other is having a system that attracts people who can do stuff like that.

In English, Bishop Gran's two volume Memoirs are called, A Hand on my Shoulder.

Det annet Vatikanskonsil: Oppbrudd og fornyelse

Oh geez, someone from the local news station called me about this. Freaky. I just referred her to the national leader in the meantime, I just don't want to make a fool of myself or anything.

Because I'm a leader in a young adults group for Catholics that's why. And I'm on the net as a person active in the Catholic church with an address that's in that area of the TV station.
