Nihil Obstat
I am usually unable to watch any scary movies ...I was sleepless after watching both The Ring & The Blair Witch Project...I watched The Exorcism of Emily Rose (I think the boring court scenes helped!), but I really didn't know what to think of it...& Yeah, I'm ...
That's my favourite 'horror' after The Exorcist! Followed very closely by The Sixth Sense.
Ephrem Augustine
I've been told we have one, but who it is is a secret.
One of our priests might have spiritual gifts, and he has been assisting a local diocesan exorcist. I met the exorcist, and we were discussing the process at a seminar among several priests. There are a lot of good reasons for something like this to be kept secret. There can be a lot of publicity, superstitious fascination as well. People with mad obsessions seeking them out, as well as satanists. On another occassion I went with a priest who knew my age precisely. I had wondered if he would have confessed my very sin if i hadn't been so upright and honest.

Although it makes it slightly more difficult to seek help if you need it. Some people could feel a lot more comfortable privately talking to a single parish priest that they might already know rather than going to the bishop's office right away. jeffpugh
Technically speaking every diocese should have an exorcist on hand. Most do, although I think most don't really advertise it. I've been told we have one, but who it is is a secret.
A reason I've heard for the secrecy is that the less people who know about the exorcist, the less chances the devil will find out. They are especially targeted for temptations! Maria
As far as healings go, I know a priest in our diocese who says he expects all priests have had some experiences of healings happening, especially surrounding the sacrament of the anointing of the sick. He does make a distinction between various kinds of healings (physical/spiritual, of the sick individual/of the family, etc.) but he always tells the family to look out for the healing that will come, because he believes that there always will be some kind of healing. Here are a few of his anecdotes. Unfortunately none of them include a physical healing.
