CatherineM
I'll bet my husband would love to just strip off his pants in church and get comfortable too.

Whenever you said "in the name of the father...etc" she would just tap herself in the chest like 15 times and then fold up her hands! So cuuuuute.
That's what my son ends up doing. Only it's only like 4 times.
marielapin
We went last night with our two boys, aged 5 and 2. We sit right in the front row. It was fantastic. The Exultet and the Litany of the Saints get me every time. I think I've been to the Easter Vigil every year for the past 9 years with the exception of two years. We've been every year for the past five years. My oldest stayed awake until the very end! My youngest has never fallen asleep during the Vigil, much to my chagrin. Good times. Favorite Mass of the year. I lectored, which was totally cool, and we had around ten people received into the church to varying degrees. Sojourner
We've been teaching Aaron the Sign of the Cross and he really doesn't get it except at the end where we fold our hands together. To get him to do that part, I had to show him how it was similar to clapping. Sometimes he gets confused and claps at the end of the Sign of the Cross, which is kinda funny. Anyway, during the baptisms, the priest would say, "I baptize you in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit" and Aaron started clapping and screaming happily. Then he drooled on my shirt and saw the discoloration. He must have thought it was something sitting on my shirt because he kept trying to brush it off and he was making angry eyebrows and getting frustrated with the drool spot because it wouldn't brush off, lol. Then, at one point, we're just praying and paying attention to the Mass and I realize that Aaron has removed his pants. "Uh...whose kid is this?"
That's awesome. My kid slept through everything until Communion; miraculously he didn't cry when he woke up, either. He did keep his pants on, too. MissyP89
Cristo è risorto, alleluia, alleluia!!!! When the alleluia was about to be sung, my friend and I got the giggles waiting in the silence for it, we were SO excited. The gloria was so beautiful I nearly cried. I love Vigil soooo much. We had six this year, all candidates, so there was no litany. I missed it, too.
SoonerCatholic
Love the little kid stories. So funny. I went to Easter vigil with my family, it's become a sort of tradition now. It was almost 3 hours long because they baptized 26 people and confirmed and received almost that many more. Very impressive, though I was sad to learn that some of the newly baptized left their candles behind in the church. Hopefully it was just an accident, because you have to save baptism candles.... Anyways, the church was three quarters roped off for all the new people and their friends and family. Probably only about 50 regulars showed up, shame, because we could have fit another hundred in our "church-in-the-round." I love the lighting of the fire (we always have a nice big one seen through a large clear window in the church) and the Gloria and the bellringers always brings a lump of happiness to my throat. I wish our pastor wasn't "allergic" to incense though, then we could have had the smells along with the bells. (Ok, that was bad pun) I do wish he didn't feel the need to thank and applaud the catechists and our wonderful choir at the end though....Save the applause for the reception. In the meantime I promise myself that I will go to an Easter Vigil where they read all 9 readings and sing the proper text of the psalm, not some musically edited version. Long story short, I love Easter Vigil.
cmaD2006
I love the Easter Vigil, but I don't have it this year to do the multi-lingual thing. Use Latin and get it done. I'm sick of pandering.
Actually I chose not to go to the Easter Vigil because the service was entirely in english, and not bilingual. I don't think there's a spanish vigil service in this diocese (there are a few that are bilingual); I kind of miss being in a different US diocese where there were holy week services entirely in spanish. I went to the spanish Mass on easter day (besides I lead the choir so I had to be there). I prefer Mass in the vernacular -- but no need to start the arguments. That's why we've got the options.
