I love the Easter Vigil, but I don't have it this year to do the multi-lingual thing.

Use Latin and get it done. I'm sick of pandering.

went to an eastern orthodox liturgy this morning and saw a foretaste of the resurrection, in the spirit of celebrating the harrowing of hell. kind of messed w the consistency of my roman liturgical cycle, but it was still cool.

anyway, i was really tired and took a nap after, and just woke up w your post scaring me half to death because i had seriously been tired enough to sleep for a whole day and it turns out my computer calendar had been messed up and said april 4. haha i totally thought i slept through all of easter.

will be going to an EF vigil at 10pm. :smokey:

Saint Therese

I'll be heading to EAster Vigil Mass later tonight.
I love the Vigil Mass, with the service of lights.

Christ Our Light!

Thanks be to God!

God Conquers

Leaving now! Can't wait for the Exultet, my favorite moment of the year!!!!!!

Afterwards : Break Fast with friends at Denny's.

My friend asked: Is there a better 24 hour place for breakfast?

My reply: Are there any good 24 hour places?

Oh Father, yours was longer than ours! We started at 9pm and went until 1.30am and we don't go back until 11am this morning, so you definitely are running an endurance marathon up in Brisbane. You will be flying by the end of it all though.... so sweet.

PS It's a good thing that Daylight Savings ended lat night so you get an extra hour today!

So wonderful to have the Gloria back.

We had 19 people be received into the Church this year! 9 of them were baptized tonight! :)

Mildly different to be amongst the parish congregation than it is to be up front as a candidate, but in a good way. It made praying for those who were coming in all the more poignant, because I knew how they had to feel. This one guy, in his 90s, was so happy the whole time.

Christ is Risen! Alleluia!

I just got back and it was GLORIOUS!!!

The Exultet always gets me. :sadder: <-- tears of JOY. I live for that very moment every year.

My favorite part:
O happy fault,
O necessary sin of Adam,
which gained for us so great a Redeemer!
...
Of this night scripture says:
"The night will be as clear as day:
it will become my light, my joy."

Ah! Baptisms, Confirmations (AWESOME Confirmation names chosen, by the way!), First Holy Communions, chanted litany, huge Easter fire... :cloud9:

I am SO happy.

Ok - today's Easter Mass was only two hours long but we had Terce first and the whole thing was glorious - still the Bishop with us and three priests and hundreds of acolytes (well, maybe not hundreds) and a beautiful choir - oh heaven is here with the Risen Jesus! Alleluia! Aren't we all just so blessed to be Catholic? Alleluia!

I agree with everything you said. I also really love the hearing the Litany of the Saints sung. So beautiful!

HSdad and I alternate years-- this is his year. It starts at 8.

Sounds nice. I love the full Vigil, chanted, in only natural and candle light in the early hours of the morning, but the Easter Vigil is nowhere near as enjoyable or edifying when I spend the whole time trying to control an 18 month old.
