Winchester
I do think we need health care reform, even if this is not the kind that I wanted. Hopefully it can help us think more critically of ways to assist those who needlessly suffer and die because of abuses of insurance companies.
The answer is not government regulation, but citizen solidarity and effort. The government's regulation of private businesses must be very limited, if it exists at all. Just about anyone could get health care by joining the military. But people want something for nothing. The New Deal pretty well destroyed freedom in this country. Saint Therese
WAKE UP!!!!!! this bill is not health care 'reform' in any kind of way.We may have problems with ACCESS to health care for the poor but we have the best health care system in the world. After the passage of this bill our standards if care will go DOWN, because care will be based on dollar value instead of what is best for the patient. I cannot believe that anyone here actually believes the propoganda that this will somehow improve our health system. Not to mention the fact that now that we have 'free' health care( a joke because this bill will be the final nail in the coffin that will send our economy into complete ruin) the gov't basically owns our bodies. We've had a socialist revolution and.people are to asleep even to notice.
Apotheoun
I would never call a system that puts the IRS in charge of enforcing the purchasing of health insurance by individuals . . . "health care reform." This is all just a huge federal power grab, and nothing more.
Ed Normile
I have not checked the numbers, but a friend said it doesn't matter much what happens November because the republicans need a super majority to reverse the obamacare bill. They won't have it even if they won every congressional race this November. A super majority is what they'll need to override a veto, and that's what it will take to get the will of the people passed.
If the republicans can assume a simple majority they can defund the bill, which will basically stall it from being implemented. What no one seems to even consider is that President Obama and the liberals are trying to pass a VAT tax, a Value Added Tax that will tax every purchase made in the U.S. and purchases by foreign interests of U.S. produce. This tax is being hailed as the only way to float the healthcare bill, despite the plan to tax U.S. citizens for four years before the healthcare benefits start to become available to the citenzry. This VAT tax will basically cripple U.S. economy and keep us from ever recovering from the recession we are experiencing, although that truly seems to be this Presidents plan, its far more easy to dictate to a broken country with a bankrupt monetary system, people will have their hands out for staples and will overlook the proceedings of governmental agendas. ed
aalpha1989
The "HealthCare" bill passed because a majority of elected Democrats don't care about the Constitution. Chiefly Obama himself, and Pelosi.
Honestly I don't care about the Constitution either. If I was a politician I wouldn't want my actions dictated by bad 18th Century deistic philosophers of the "Enlightenment".
When political representatives ignore the constitution the end result is a dictatorship.
There are lots of ways to ignore the Constitution. A dictatorship is not the only end result.
It would be nice if at least a few of the states would take their sovereignty seriously enough to secede from the union in the face of the recent unconstitutional actions of the federal government.
Agreed. Edit: A better Constitution would be an unwritten one like Britain's, but one that was based on Catholic principles.
