Can I Suggest Another New Order Of Sisters/nuns?

Nihil Obstat

How about the Sisters of Perpetual pWnage, who are tied to the priestly order of the Holy Fraternity of Our Lady of Perpetual Awesome for the Lulz?

It's a bit of a mouthful, I realize, but they'd get used to it.

Can I be Sr. Mary Christmas?

Excellent.

We turned down one postulant who wanted the name "Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary" because the name doesn't fit the charism of the order. Too, bad, though, because she was a wonderful gardener.

However, we did accept Mary of the Long, Hot Bath.

I want in as long as I can be Sister Rosary Bede. :))

I read that name as someone`s joke suggestion on the Summit NJ Dominicans blog and decided I must have it.

I LOVE the name Sister Rosary Bede. And, I don't see anything theologically wrong with it, since it honors both the rosary, as well as St. Bede the Venerable.

I love St. Bede the Venerable. I know nothing about him, but when I lived in LA, there was a parish I frequently drove by named "St. Bede the Venerable." The name made me smile every time I saw it. I can barely remember the name of the parish church I was married in, but I never forget St. Bede the Venerable! LOL

Sister Rosary Bede, the Order will greatly welcome and appreciate your additional supervision and Quality Control over the food.

However, despite the fact that this order may initially seem frivolous to some, some earlier omissions due to ignorance, such as praying the Divine Office, will be added to the horarium.

And there WILL be SOME strict rules, which even myself, Sister Mary of the Benefit of the Doubt, will not allow to be broken, and one is smoking. Of anything. Ever. Tobacco, lettuce, and particularly, illegal substances. (Although I often kid about smoking pot, I myself have never smoked it, or ingested any illegal substance. Heck, I've never even smoked a tobacco cigarette--I'm surprised Berkeley consented to give me a degree.) Because of this, my ability to smell is excellent, and I can detect even trace amounts of tobacco on people's clothes--such as if they were in a room last week where people were smoking. So, no sneaking behind the statue of Mary in the grotto for a quick smoke--I'll know. Chewing tobacco is also forbidden. Gotta have standards.

However, the kitchen will be allowed to smoke its own ham or bacon if it so desires. And, fires in fireplaces will be allowed. (Although I'm strongly tempted to base this Order in a temperate climate.)

Suggestions for designs for habits for this Order are being taken. We had a thread awhile back of some especially attractive habits, and there was one blue and white one that I liked a lot (I'll have to go back and find the picture). However, the Order is open to other colors and suggestions. Whatever the habit of the other Sisters, Sister Salty of the Face that Scares Small Children will be required to wear a paper bag, except during meals (which she will be required to take alone, because I can't imagine watching her eat). We are considering the use of "Eating with Sister Salty" as a test of vocation for postulants.

Sorry, I'm losing track of everyone's religious names. Perhaps Salty could have two names--one public name, plus a nickname within the Order. Outside the Order, we would never want to show disrespect for any of our Sisters, even if the Sister needs to wear a paper bag over her head much of the time, out of charity for those who are not used to her face.

A couple of suggestions for your own religious name:

--Mary of the Prime Numbers

--Mary, Giver of Thanks to God for Cadbury Chocolate.

However, I suspect you can come up with a name that is much more witty than either of those, as some of your fellow sisters have done.

How about these????

The gardener of the order... her name is Sister Mary Rose
The librarian is Sister Mary Reed
The nun who is sometimes up in the clouds is Sister Mary Butterfly

LOL

Any more?

When I first started discerning, I wrote a story with some of these nun names in it. :-)
