laetitia crucis
A Mother of a religious order sent me this CD that was given to her - not sure if she new the singer or the person was just a lay person, - as she thought I would enjoy it and as they wouldn't play it them being a cloistered order! This singer, Danielle Rose, sings beautifully and has beautiful songs. The CD I as sent, "Pursue Me", is a vocational CD ( http://www.amazon.com/Pursue-Me-Danielle-Rose/dp/1584594403/ref=pd_bxgy_b_text_b ) and included are pictures of her in her habit - she joined the Disciples of Jesus Christ (if I got the name right?) after she made several CDs. These songs on this CD come from a heart longing to give itself to Jesus as His bride. On this album, on Amazon, there is samples to listen to: http://www.amazon.com/Mysteries-Danielle-Rose/dp/B00012CTTM/ref=pd_sim_b_2
Danielle Rose is one of my favorite Catholic artists. I found a lot of her songs from her Mysteries album to be very inspirational, especially in regards to vocation. Here's one of them: Holiness is Faithfulness --- ETA: I also wanted to add Danielle Rose's "Agony in the Garden" and "Crown of Thorns"; however, I cannot find any sound clips to link to. Rejoice, rejoice O Pure Virgin. " We chant this at matins and vespers during the Paschal season. It's my favorite; I can't wait. The Valaam Choir is the best though. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h9B7WiNK9t4 here it is in English by the Nuns at St. Paisius Serbian Orthodox Monastery. The Bishop is Bishop Maxim of the Serbian Orthodox Diocese of Western America. In my church we chant it both in english and Old Church Slavonic. (I must admit, I am a wee bit envious that you all actually get to chant this.) Here are your videos embedded: I think I prefer this version over the English.
I'm glad you posted both though, I was able to listen to the English version(I did laugh when I saw the priest take his son's (?) hand & pretend to direct with it!) & then appreciate more so the Slavonic one...
