Acoffin was placed in front of a Missouri Democrat’s house, another in astring of incidents against lawmakers after their vote Sunday on ahealth care overhaul.

Rep. Russ Carnahan (D-Mo.) had a coffin placed “near his home,” a spokesman said Wednesday evening.

The coffin was from a prayer vigil, and protesters say that thecoffin symbolized babies who would be aborted due to the health carelaw and was not a threat to Carnahan.

This came after Rep. Tom Perriello’s (D-Va.) brother’s gas lines werecut, Rep. Bart Stupak (D-Mich.) received death threats and RulesCommittee Chairwoman Louise Slaughter (D-N.Y.) received a messagesaying snipers were being deployed to kill children of those who votedfor health care overhaul.

Several other Democrats have had threats leveled against them, prompting a closed-door briefing of Democratic members by the FBI,Capitol Police and the House Sergeant at Arms.

“Carnahan appreciates thoughtful feedback received both in favor andopposition of health insurance reform,” Carnahan spokesman Jim Hubbardtold POLITICO Wednesday evening “We can disagree on important issuesfacing our country without resorting to this kind of thing. RussCarnahan isn’t going to shy away from the importance of reform when45,000 fellow Americans died last year due to a lack of healthinsurance.”

Fifth District Congressman Tom Perriello is now speaking out about an incident the FBI is investigating at his brother's house. He says somebody cut the propane line to a gas grill, after a Tea Party website mistakenly listed his brother's home address as his.

House Minority Leader John Boehner says any violence or vandalism is not acceptable, and is encouraging folks to take their anger to the ballot box.

Perriello takes issue with Boehner's statement. "Actually I thought his statement was fairly outrageous. What he was saying was, for those of you who are threatening people's children, we want you to channel that anger into the campaign. No, we want those people to go to jail."

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer says more than 10 Democrats have reported trouble since the weekend vote.
trying to kill someone and their family with a propane explosion?? and unless it was a very large property, a little tank of propane could level the house next to his as well. what the heck is wrong with people?

I fear that the there will be more and more violence as the federal government continues to usurp powers that it constitutionally does not possess.

I do denounce the tactics and methods being employed to oppose the legislature and those we have elected to office, however they have violated the rights of every American with the passage of this bill. Killing innocent people, shooting bullets at windows, and cutting gas lines is no way to send a message. The coffin was not a bad idea - there was no violence involved. If laws like these continue we are moving into revolution terriroty. Previously the battle cry was "no taxation without representation". Our rights have been violated far beyond what caused us to separate from England. There may be a new battle cry soon.

Take up a gun and go chill in the woods with some like minded friends then.

This is why the tea baggers don't scare me as mass movement. The may be vitriolic, paranoid and many even racist, but when it comes down to it most are just full of empty bluster and hot air.

Sternhauser

They tarred and feathered tax collectors 230 years ago. It was, and was doubtless called terrorism. Immoral as tarring and feathering is, it was also an expression of outrage over real atrocities. And a harbinger of the first American Revolution.

to Bro Adam/apo :
I believe the suicide/car bombers in the middle east use the same reasoning to justify trying to kill people. there is no excuse for it.

Jesus_lol,

Neither of them justified it. Neither of them excused it. They did the intellectually honest thing and refused to throw the baby out with the bathwater: they explained that there is real outrage, and the outrage is justified.

im just saying its much the same as saying "well, car bombs arent very good, but those guys do have legitimate issues."

which i guess is true enough. same with the guy that flew the plane into the IRS building. still, all of them qualify as terrorists, and these methods should be completely renounced, shamed, whatever it takes. being legitimately pissed off doesnt give license for immoral actions.

Sometimes your name fits you. LOL. all of the time. You think that a grill's propane tank is going to level a house and a neighbor's?

hmm i was thinking of a slightly larger tank. we use a larger size at our house. still, if all the propane leaks out it could cause quite a large explosion, highly likely to destry the house its next to.
Pro-Life Lawmakers Shot At, Threatened For Opposing Pro-Abortion Health Bill

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- Two pro-life Republican lawmakers announced today that they were the victims of harassment and violence from people upset that they voted against the pro-abortion health care bill. Rep. Eric Cantor's Richmond campaign office was shot at while Rep. Jean Schmidt received a harassing phone call.

Other members of Congress have also reported receiving threatening and harassing calls and emails.

Wednesday night, according to Fox News, the Richmond campaign office of Cantor, the number two Republican in the House, was victimized by a shooting when a bullet flew through the window of the office.

Because he is a member of the leadership in the House, as is the case with both parities, he is entitled to security protection from U.S. Capitol Police, but Fox indicates he has asked for additional protection.

The Department of Homeland Security is also involved in the investigation because it involves a top member of Congress.

According to CNN, Cantor also said he has received threatening phone messages.

"Enough is enough," Cantor said. "It has to stop."
