as i wrap up my information for my speech, i still have a question or two about the pope in the eyes of the east. after re reading some eariler answers to my questions i was left with another question. it involes this passage from an answer
The more well-disposed and traditional Orthodox see the Pope as bishop of Elder Rome, successor of Peter, and first among equals (in terms of bishops). They acknowledge Rome as the highest “court of appeal” to settle disputes, and would be happy to recognise that the Pope has a “primacy of honor”. What they have doubts about is whether he also has a “primacy of jurisdiction”. I think on our part, we believe Christianity does not care about ‘honors’ but only about ‘service’, like Christ our Lord. The Pope’s primacy is one of service---he is the servant of the servants of Christ.
the orthodox seem to give him a lot of respect (as im sure they do), but where did this respect come from? why do they give it to him and not the other bishops?do they give simalar respect (athority) to the bishop (patriarch) of constantinople? after the schism was the bishop of rome (in terms of his role) replaced by the patriarch of constantinople? is there a bishop of rome for the orthodox (as a replacment or whatever) or are they waiting for him to "come back"? thank you very much. my speech is tomorrow or wednesday, so if you can only say a prayer for me rather then answer this question, im sure teh prayer would help more! :D thank you again

ps- i was watching EWNT as i wrote my last question. Fr. Trigillio (from Web of Faith) said that the orthodox use the same Catechism as the catholics use. as he said taht he held up a copy of the Complete and Updated Catechism of the Catholic Church (the white and purple one.) is this true, yes/no? thanks yet again!
