homeschoolmom
What was "the thing" about Catholicism that made you believe it was truly the Church Christ founded?

Sojourner
It was the Eucharist. I'd been rolling the idea around in my head for a while, that the Eucharist really was the Body and Blood of Christ. I'd come to a point at which I could intellectually assent to the Church's teaching on this, but it hadn't hit my heart yet. Then one day I was serving communion at my Presbyterian Church, and the thought struck me, "Every week we rip and tear at the Body of Christ." I almost started crying right then but didn't ... but my heart was after that date forever changed. I knew, deep down inside, that the Church was right on this. After that, it wasn't too long before I concluded I couldn't commune at my church any longer, and then I decided to leave and start RCIA. Nine months later, I was able to take the Eucharist for the first time. It was incredible. There really aren't words ...
PhatPhred
For me it was the Pope's statement on evolution. It's very nearly impossible to be a Baptist and believe in evolution, with the literal way they interpret Scripture. I know that both science and religion come from God, and thus cannot contradict each other. Catholicism stands behind this principle in a way that no denominations do. Crusader_4
For Me it was baptism. Something told me that any commandment God gave us was not symbolic but had power behind it.

FaustinaVianney
It was the unity (One and Apostolic) the Church has. No other Church has that. We get the whole Bible in three years or two years if you are a daily Mass participant. The church I went to had 'favorite verses' that got preached about over and over and over... Everything made sense logically..there were so many holes in the other churches. There seemed to be so much more sacredness to Catholicism and it intrigued me greatly! Mother Mary did lead home... I would like to be able to say that the Eucharist is what brought me, but I did not know that Jesus was truly present in the Eucharist for a couple of months after starting RCIA..odd isn't it? I figured that would have been one of the first things taught...

Joseph
A BIG one for me was history.......being able to trace the Church back to the time of the apostles and that the beliefs held by the Church are consistent with the early Church fathers.........and Protestantism didn't make sense to me either, every Church has different beliefs, so I couldn't figure out who was right........Once I learned of the beliefs, traditions, and the history of the Catholic Church.........there was no turning back....I just followed my heart.
