Sojourner
I was a mutt, but mainly Presbyterian. The full story: Baptized as an infant into the Reformed Presbyterian Church of North America, attended there for five or six years, then my family left that church and joined a Presbyterian Church (USA). Then we left there and attended a Christian and Missionary Alliance church for a while, then back to the RPCNA through high school and into college. While I was in school, I attended a bunch of different denoms: Methodist, Episcopal, house church, college church, Presbyterian Church in America, Wesleyan, Baptist, CMA, Congregationalist, etc. After college, I went to a Baptist church for a couple of years, and it was during this time I attended my frist Mass and made my first Catholic friend. (She was actually at my confirmation, which was cool.) Then I quit going to church altogether for about three years, and when I started going again I joined a PCA church, which is where I was attending immediately prior to being received at Easter Vigil. PhatPhred
If you convert from a "Once Saved, Always Saved" denomination, then you've got all the bases covered!

jessinoelw
I was baptized Episcopalian as an infant but not raised in anything. At the age of 17 I was baptized at the Evangelical Free Church I had started attending with my boyfriend (now husband of five years). About a year after we got married we started looking into Catholicism. We were received privately on February 23, 2001. --Jessica
Laudate_Dominum
I don't know what I was before.. I used to comb texts and try to come up with theories of existence. LOL!
Ellenita
If you convert from a 'once saved always saved' denomination, then you've got all the bases covered.
Especially if you've had a full immersion baptism too! I was raised an Anglican, spent many years in the Baptist and Pentecostal denomination and the charismatic house church movement, then a long time anti all churches (though not God! ) then went back to my anglican roots.... ........and finally 'came home' this Easter! homeschoolmom
when I was typing the poll, I thought, "should I use 'Anglican' or 'Episcopalian'?" I was thinking of you, Ellenita, but thought... "Well, I'm in America... better go with 'Episcopalian' even though 'Anglican' is so much easier to spell... and likelier to get a reply." theculturewarrior
I had no religious upbringing. My parents were lapsed Catholics. Ended up some kind of armchair evangelical/liberal protestant. I never went to church but I read the Bible a lot. I was on fire for God but I had a lot of issues I needed to work on. I had always been fascinated with Catholicism, but tried to put thoughts of joining out of my mind. God called though, and I am still living my answer. Received sacraments of initiation, April 14, 2001 (Easter Vigil). Edited April 14, 2004 by theculturewarrior
marielapin
I was raised United Methodist. I wasn't ever told why I was United Methodist over Presbyterian, etc, but I was told that I was NOT to be Catholic.
